I also tested importing the Luna volume into blender as a .vdb and rendering it as an emmissive volume with a pseudocolor. This was a cool way to view the data, so thanks for making it available!

So it is somewhat appropriate that for an astronomical-scale MRI we use NIfTI files and a 3D viewer. We already have 7 slices of Maki, Greebo and Luna, and there are more to come. So this is what we got so far for Cas A light echo by JWST 🔭. NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI. more credits in the page below.

The superposition of these two studies — both incredible — reflect a snapshot of "one big thing" systems neuroscience has yet to resolve. In mice: 1. Task-related signals are everywhere. 2. Absent large swaths of "everywhere," suprisingly sophisticated learning & behavior remains.

The Korea Pathfinder Lunar Observatory (Danuri) has just imaged the location where a Falcon 9 rocket stage hit the Moon and created a small new impact crater. 🔭🧪
Danuri captured footage of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket's upper stage impacting the lunar surface on August 5 at 15:34 Korean time!

Danuri began observations about 30 minutes before the collision and, through orbit control, passed over the impact site multiple times, conducting a total of 8 imaging sessions.

Fabulous Roman gold body chain!🤩 A jewelled mount set with amethyst & garnets, and a rear clasp set with gold coin of emperor Gratian. Late 4th century AD. Part of the Hoxne Hoard, discovered by a metal detectorist in Suffolk in 1992. British Museum 📷 by me #FindsFriday #Archaeology
My photo collage shows a Roman gold body chain from the Hoxne Hoard.

Left photo: close up of the jewelled mount at the front of the body chain; a roughly oval gold setting for nine gems. The centre oval cell contains a cabochon amethyst surrounded by four almond-shaped garnets (one damaged) which alternate with four empty circular cells still containing some sulphur. These may have contained pearls. The chain terminals are decorated with lion heads.

Top right photo: view of the front of the body chain displayed on a mannequin at the British Museum. The body chain is composed of four chains which are joined to form an upper-body decoration which passes over the shoulders and under the arms of the wearer, crossing at the front and back.

Bottom right photo: view of the back of the body chain which has a clasp with octagonal mount set with a gold coin of Gratian.

Discovered in 1992, the Hoxne Hoard was buried some time after AD407/8 when Roman rule was breaking down in Britain. Made up of gold jewellery, silver tableware and more than 15,000 gold and silver coins.

Such cool science! Scientists transmitted radio waves from a radio telescope out to one of Jupiter's moons, then received the reflected waves back at multiple telescopes and measured the radio albedo. Using circular polarization, they can measure the transparency of the global ice sheet. 📡
