Earlier this week, I agreed to interviews with two USA Today journalists. They wrote fantastic articles about the Cornell case that I'm proud to have been a part of. What I did not know is that their employer considers interviews to proprietary and opens up recordings to be used by any journalist.

Writing something where I will be liberally citing @lilymasonphd.bsky.social's latest and realizing that I can't cite every single thing I would like to because then I'm just reprinting her work. So, I've gotta thread about it instead. muse.jhu.edu/pub/1/articl...

For two years pople have asked where the opposition party is. We don't see them because they are the same party. All these electeds are there to protect capital, to protect developers. They want to take away our water, our air, our animals, our history. It's one project.

This is interesting because human spaceflight began with total contempt for the user (and basically is still there now, with lip service to "human-centered design"). The excuse is that it's too hard/expensive with current technology. But also they design to requirements that ignore user experience.

I saw a paper at SpaceCHI last week that discussed the use of an AI agent alongside Apple Vision AR for doing spatial analytics of lunar data. Basically, you look at a globe of the Moon through the goggles and you speak commands to highlight areas with different attributes, like altitude.

Worth noting that some of these ideologies are empirically grounded and others are, like, not. So while this might be helpful in putting many players on the same stage, it doesn't do justice to the unequal epistemological credibility of the different stances nor the unequal political economy.

A deal can be judged as the "best" on more than one parameter. NASA pushing away ESA can easily become NASA pushing ESA toward China. NASA is legally prohibited from working with China, but ESA isn't. ESA knows things about NASA plans and architecture that it can share with China.
