I think we all knew Watson’s “Rosie didn’t realize [because she was a woman and so obviously inferior to my genius]” schtick was bullshit. What’s boggling to me here is the implication that no one since ever looked at the rest of her notes. 🧪

True accountability can never come without transparency. I don't care whether it's my alma mater or a random school, consistent, transparent reporting is critical to the systemic change that is necessary for protecting students and hold perpetrators accountable. #WomeninScience

"Can you use AI for that?" I get asked that a lot, today after filming students at the Uni of Cambridge. Can I use AI to help storyboard the videos? Probably. But why would I? I travel all this way to find and tell those stories. It's about the journey, not just the endpoint. #stories #scicomm

It’s impressive that autonomous AI agents is only the second most unreal idea in this sentence, behind the magic “press to get data” button. Just a huge devaluing of the process of data collection. Science is not just interpretation of data! There’s a reason many scientists want their own lab.

I finally figured out why AI causes such a visceral reaction in thinking humans: I am writing my book chapter on PLAY, and AI is the opposite of play. We play for the joy of the process, not for the outcome. Yes it is nice to win, to have the art/ poem, but the point of life is to play.

President of MIT not mincing words today in @statnews.com www.statnews.com/2026/05/27/s...
So let me say it as clearly as I can: Without basic scientific research, supported by the kind of farsighted public investment that allows large-scale, undirected, curiosity-driven inquiry, the scientific pipeline will run dry.
In daily life, people may not feel the effects right away, or even in 10 years. But we will feel it. And when someone we love needs therapies that could have emerged but didn't or when other countries now
investing in science can launch new science-based industries or run their societies on vast resources of fusion energy or reap the benefits of quantum computing power or advanced medical breakthroughs, America will wish it sustained its leadership in scientific research here and now.
Sally Kornbluth is the president of MIT.
