Spent a little time dancing and watching music videos last night after a friend pitched the idea that we have a music vid sharing party sometime in the future. I have no choice but to admit that life is worth living.

Also Sunday, in Evanston. Bystanders interrupted the attack, rendered aid, and called emergency services. ICE drove off leaving the man bleeding and injured in the street. They tossed his wallet onto the ground. A US citizen. He reportedly refused to give them id, his right under IL law.

My apartment complex is doing patio inspections tomorrow (lol) and has ever so politely reminded us that we can only have holiday decorations out up to 30 days before a holiday, cannot dry clothes outdoors or keep brooms/mops outdoors, and can’t keep anything but plants and outdoor furniture there.

On a whim, I looked up the author of my beloved childhood pop-up book that took place in a colorful haunted house. I bought a copy of the book a couple years ago after finally figuring out the name of it from patchwork childhood memories. The author is Jan Pienkowski.

for two months, I've been flying drones over Flock cameras to situation them in space and geography; I even got my commercial drone license in order to do it. I'd like to share this project with you all: it's called Records Of Enemy Surveillance: recordsofenemysurveillance.com

Oop I forgot to post my latest book class book! It was my first time using chipboard for a book and my first attempt at Coptic binding!
My hand holding a small lime green book with a window cut out of the front cover, revealing off white paper inside. There are five stitches running through the front cover. An inside view of the front cover of the book. The endpaper is vintage wrapping paper with illustrated yellow daffodils, a white goose, and green grass on it. The first page has some decorative red pattern near the spine reminiscent of a DNA double helix pattern The back of the book with the same endpaper and red decorative spine thing. More geese are depicted on the endpaper. My worktop with a cutting mat, the covers for my book, glue, an awl, a ruler, a bone folder, and a craft knife atop it.

I learned to screenprint yesterday AND I went on a killer hike in Prescott! This summer has been absolutely brutal but I’ve had some excellent days recently.
Me, a fat white person wearing a respirator mask, screen printing in a small studio with two people watching as I print. Me, a fat white person, bending slightly to take pictures of lichen on some rocks. I’m on a trail outdoors, in dappled sunlight and surrounded by pine trees, and I’m smiling widely.

I’ve been taking an intro bookmaking class and my head is full of possibilities. I’ve gotten some cool, old classroom and office supply paper from my local creative reuse and I’d love to make it into some notebooks or junk journals. We did japanese stab binding last class!
Two small hand bound books. One has black paper with gold foil spiders and plants for the cover and the other has a purple metallic paper. Both are bound with emerald green thread. My hand opening the black and gold book to show a page with a Lily of the valley pattern. The rest of the pages are blank but I wanted one decorative page made from a vintage wrapping paper I had in my collection.

I'm supposed to be cleaning right now, so naturally I drew this picture of how a coffee machine works instead :) #sciart #engineering #industrialdesign #productdesign
An illustration of how a coffee machine works! Water goes into the reservoir in the back, and flows into a tube around the bottom of the machine. The tube passes through the heating element, which both heats the water and the coffee carafe. The heated water becomes vapour, a mix of both liquid and gas. The hot vapour rises through the tube and passes a bubble valve, which lifts to allow rising water but lowers if water tries to backflow, ensuring water is forced up towards the grounds. A sprayer ensures the hot water is evenly dispersed over the grounds, which leach their delicious flavour into the water. The water then pours into the carafe, and you're left with a hot pot of fresh bean juice.

I am once again struck by how good a shower feels after a long day. We went for a walk at 6 am after inexplicably waking at 5:30! After a brief period of feeling sluggish, it actually felt incredible to be out when it wasn’t super hot and sunny.
