Really pleased to have contributed a little chapter to this Palgrave Handbook of Medieval Literature and Science, and even more pleased that it exists, or will soon exist, and that it makes the case for scientific thinking in premodern literary periods: link.springer.com/book/9783032...

I've been working on academic books for 8 years (as an editor for 6) this week and I just had to Google to make sure I was using a comma right because I *knew* I was right technically, but it still *looked* a little funny in this back cover copy... staying humble here, folks

PSA: authors typically retain the right to reprint their own articles in a book they author/edit. You may have signed a contract w/ the journal saying as much or the publisher’s website may have info. If not you can email the journal editor to confirm. Just cite the original in your acknowledgments.

Was having a drag of a morning (perhaps the temperature dropping 20 degrees in New York has contributed to this) but then got to send a "good news" (e.g... contract offer) email to an author about a book I'm excited about. The sun has appeared and conditions are improving!!
