The potential for CO2 is prudently estimated at 0.7°C of warming. Meaning if we stay on the current trajectory of +2.7°C in 2100 (and not even net-zero by then), it will hardly be possible to reverse to +1.5°C.

That's really bad. EPA classification of GHG as harmful pollutants is pretty much the only way the US government can be held accountable on reducing GHG emissions. It's the legal framework justifying every piece of US emission regulation since 2009, on coal plants, passenger vehicles, etc.
