Hannibal not even making it into the Times best TV list really shows how it's just about branding - some crime/horror/drama gets branded as "prestige TV" while others don't. If Hannibal was on HBO like True Detective (which did make the list) its fate would have been completely different

One of the biggest signs of the almost complete right wing cultural victory is how everyone talks about journalism the way only Trumpers and Gamergaters used to. The minute anyone reads something they dislike they rush to discredit it in every possible way, even using the same language to do so.

I did a presentation in my LSW group supervision a few years ago about the many problems with academia's current peer review system, which is how I first encountered the argument that academic journals don't pay their writers and editors because doing so would compromise their research ethics 🙃
