avery @leftyer.bsky.social · 30/09/2026who are men whose entire brand is just making several hour long videos about books targeted towards women very much in the vein of this, and even if their actual literary analysis is technically good its so offputting that this is the only thing they do 110
avery @leftyer.bsky.social · 30/09/2026i think its still very much a problem still in book circles online. especially wrt booktok stuff (which yeah, a lot of has significant problems and there are very good criticisms of a lot of it, many coming from women) but there are a few big booktubers who i can immediately think of- 111

avery @leftyer.bsky.social · 30/08/2026elden ring was so close to doing something interesting but then they only show up in one area at the start of the game and it just falls back on the extremely tired cursed/immortal enemies trope which imo is a related but separate criticism of the games 070

avery @leftyer.bsky.social · 11/06/2026I think most of the time the older VHS/tape aesthetic works better but when a FF movie has a good framing device to justify using better tech it can work really well. The Borderlands/The Final Prayer is my personal favorite example of that but mockumentaries can also be a good example 110
