"Suffer For This" has been up on Amazon for ages, and we've basically pretended it wasn't there. It's better for both authors and publishers to order books from the publisher, if possible. But ... there are some holidays that involve gift-giving coming up, so if you need it quick, happy holidays! 😎

The Crows Who Watch the Dawn by the Stones Happy solstice everyone!! Go make friends with your nearest crow 🐦‍⬛
A sunrise landscape. A dawn sun is in the upper centre of the frame with an orange sky, lighting a misty meadow of white flowers. In the midst stand tall, pointed ancient stones. Infront of the stones stand the silhouettes of tall humanoid figures with crow heads, each with a glowing eye. The middle of these carries a long pollaxe in its hands. Each of the other crows (two to each side) look up towards the middle cross, and hold various items such as a book, a censer, and daggers.

My God, this is the best poem I've read in months. "When My Daughter Tells Me I was Never Punk," by Jessica Walsh. (Sorry the alt text doesn't go all the way to the end, but you can find the poem online.)
WHEN MY DAUGHTER TELLS ME I WAS NEVER PUNK I say, honey, my being alive is punk. I made my life out of grudges when I saw the odds placed against me, when my role was to marry a man who'd kill me and give me my hot young death, a guy named Charles who would have and nearly did - the day I said fuck you and threw his keys in the snow? That was punk.
When I called a nice guy who'd loved me steady and thought what if I can try staying alive, that was punk; when I had my last drink and surrendered the scene, that too was punk, and yes I miss the me who would be dead because I was a bottle rocket, a pipe bomb of a good time but my being alive is the middle finger I never put down-
I did not let these days go by, I clawed each one from dirt, and when I get my nails done I am stockpiling weapons, when I buy groceries, when 1 gas up the car, I am threatening to survive long enough to piss off a million awful people to be alive in spite of, I am promising to stay flagrantly alive...

My latest Guardian Books cartoon.
Panel 1. A terrifying man with a huge, black beard (so black it looks almost blue) addresses a sweet little bundle of papers “I must go to town, my beautiful manuscript. While I am away you may do as you please. Except you must not look in this locked drawer!”
“Yes, my love.” She replies
Panel 2. He is gone. She has picked up a key “Just a peek. How bad can it be?”
Panel 3. She opens the drawer. it is full of papers “So many abandoned drafts!” She gasps.
Panel 5. Papers rise up and moan:
“I was once his favorite!”
“We have been in this drawer for years!”
“You will join us soon!”
“Escape while you still can!”
The end.
Post script: The manuscript ran away and reworked herself into a novel so beautiful that anyone who read her was enchanted for a hundred years. The other manuscripts crumbled to dust, but their spirits roamed the kingdom until they found writers worthy of their love. The terrifying author became a book reviewer and terrified other authors for the rest of his days.

We counted about 85 rings from the tree that would have been about 50' up, so we're calling it roughly 100 y/o. It was a fantastic project w Olivia!
