Experimental post: The Duality of Whacka In the Switch version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Whacka can finally be fought, and has a suspiciously specific 108 HP. The game both offers a ridiculously simplistic explanation for this as well as a complex one steeped in Dharmic symbolism.

In Paper Mario, the original version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and Super Paper Mario, Whacka was just a harmless whack-a-mole creature that could be abused to get Whacka Bumps, extremely valuable healing items. After being hit enough times, the Whacka goes extinct, teaching the players the consequences of their actions. However, in the Switch version of Paper Mario: TTYD, he instead moves to the bottom of the Pit of 100 Trials and becomes an optional superboss with 108 HP.
He is fought at the bottom of the Pit of 100 Trials and has to be hit 8 times in order for the fight to activate.

The number 108 is considered sacred by the Dharmic religions, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
Whacka symbolizes karma for killing him in past games

Buddhism holds the view that there are precisely 108 temptations on the path to Nirvana.
Therefore, in order to reach Nirvana, every Buddhist must resist 108 earthly temptations.
With a combination of any of the elements of the above four factors, there are 108 ways with which the karmas can be attracted to the soul.

There are 108 qualities of praiseworthy souls
Some people think that the human spirit travels through 108 stages, while others believe that enlightenment is attainable with just 108 breaths each day while in Intense meditation,
108 beads to awaken your inner light
Meditators count mantra repetitions with mala beads of 108, (100 counted for self, 8 for mistakes and for those who have not the opportunity to meditate in mantra)
108 breaths to return to your truth
108 mantras to dissolve ego into dever

A design for an older Marisa deeper into her magician lifestyle my wonderful wife had conceptualized and I had drawn out. Based around a fun headcanon that magic can alter a human body without becoming a full youkai magician, leading to some traits like star irises #touhou #東方project #art

Marisa Kirisame of touhou with an alternate costume design.

Her outfit consists of a twintail coat with an inner lining filled with pockets and four prominent brass buttons on the outside with a white button-up underneath adorned with a yellow tie around the collar. For pants she has white and black tights, and wears buckled boots with black and yellow star patterned socks on. She still has her long wavy golden hair and a braid, but her magicians hat also has a yellow lining with a plaid ribbon affixed to it and a small brass star on the hats tip. Her eyes have transformed to have star shaped irises that constantly glow. Other accessories include black leather gloves and a brass star earring.

Clank your shield if you too like older battle-worn knights

A colored drawing of a woman with green hair that is graying at the ends, holding a helmet she has just removed in her hands. Her armor is scratched and cracked at certain parts.

Drawing of a maid with hair in two small braids that hang over her shoulders. Her eyes are the only colored part of the drawing, being blue. Her hands are crossed over her lap.

nobody ever cites coquette dragoon as a mechsploitation forerunner. what's up with that. it's not a direct point of influence obviously but the points of similarity are pretty undeniable

Congratulations to our Mineral Cup 2026 Champion Quartz! For #MinCup26, we collectively chose a nostalgic beauty of resilience as persistence as our champion. Please celebrate #Quartz, a friend to humans since time immemorial! www.mineralcup.org/about/2026-q...

A single quartz point, deep violet in its core and entirely clear around the outside, with ghostly traces of the crystal's former shape inside, as well as a few tiny bubbles.
