Got Bonnie Brae's with @bloommwell.bsky.social and was intrigued by this wall art. In a way, it almost seems like an acid trip with the manner that it's able to portray such life, color, and enjoyment through its imagery. Made me want to watch Willy Wonka #ConArtInSitu

I'm back at the DAM for a solo endeavor and I'm visiting the floor with early European art and textiles! @clareclarf.bsky.social inspired me with her skeets about this section since it embodies a type of art that I feel is often overlooked! #ConArtInSitu

I like how this artist combines present technologies/representations to recognize Aboriginal people and their history through a modern lens, since they are often neglected in modern art. #ConArtInSitu

We made it to the home décor section! These pieces remind of the painted interpretations of Greek sculptures that almost seem like colorful, one-dimensional caricatures of furniture out of a cartoon. #ConArtInSitu

This cast of Atlas at first reminds me of a man who is burdened by his own knowledge of the world, however Fred Wilson is able to add a nuanced symbolization to this piece that you wouldn't notice upon first exposure. #ConArtInSitu

This is such an exciting and visually appealing exhibit! It brought back some whimsy and color to artistic interpretation, which I feel is equally as important to creative expression. I felt like I was in a Monsters Inc./Candyland crossover. #ConArtInSitu

How do we start? Do we necessarily have naïve responses to art as a starting point? I begin my process of art criticism by taking in the artistic nature of the painting first. I feel like the first few seconds of viewing are taken up deciphering what I am seeing in the piece. #ConArtInSitu

How does the material work on your senses? Lee's Mambo's employed detailed use of materials that influenced my perception of the work last Wednesday. The use of textured papier-mâché, the incorporation or hair, and the soft veil coalesced into a greater image. #ConArtInSitu

What is "contemporary"? Contemporary refers to a concept or thing which is prevalent during the era of whomever is being referenced. #ConArtInSitu

In reflection of my visit to MCA, I appreciated how the artists were able to explore complex ideas with bizarre executions. However, I feel the artworks didn't have a particularly lasting impact as I've felt from more traditional avenues. I wonder if my viewpoint will change at all. #ConArtInSitu

Upon an initial run-through of the building itself, I was impressed by the angles and modern interior/architecture of the building. I feel there are a lot of blank spaces so that viewers can focus on the art. #ConArtInSitu

What is art? My current interpretation of the definition of art is: the expression of an emotion or idea which holds the capability to elicit a connection with those that interact with it. #ConArtInSitu
