From the "Borders & edges" series: "Hoard (and it burns, burns, burns)", oil, fire on map, 10 1/4 x14", 2025 - $450 (Cdn). #art
A map of Northern Ontario, Canada, just to the west of James Bay. There's a hole burned through the map mid way up to the left, the edges charred. Around the hole are realistic painted wooden matches, a couple still aflame. Further down the map are several unburnt matches with red match heads.

Ending #ArtAdventCalendar with one of my favourite paintings, the largest flower painting I’ve made so far. Thanks everybody for making this event so uplifting and inspiring! Hibiscus, oil on canvas, 55x38 cm, 2022.
On a dark green background with a few small streaks of orange and red, there’s a large hibiscus flower on the right and some foliage to the left. The flower is multicoloured with many shades of pink, orange, yellow and red.

Final #ArtAdventCalendar of the year! If you're somewhere cold, maybe this will help you dream of the tropics. Polynesian Wattled Honeyeater, colored pencil and white gel ink from a couple years back. 🎨🪶🐡 #birdart
Photo of a sketchbook with a drawn portrait of a Polynesian Wattled Honeyeater. On the left side of the image is a pencil. The bird is done in graphite primarily with some color used for the blue eye, yellow facial wattles, blue-tinted shiny beak that's long and slightly curved, and subtle yellow-green to the feathers. Highlights on the eye, beak, and some feathers are done in white ink. Hand-written text below the bird says POWH (the four-letter alpha code for this species) and dated 4-8-22.

For day 23 of #ArtAdventCalendar I offer you a fly agaric mushroom. A symbol of good luck here in Austria, mainly for the New Year, but it definitely has a general winter holiday vibe too. Fliegenpilz, oil on canvas, 15x15cm, 2021.
A fly agaric mushroom, the background is unfocused but with shades of red-ish brown on the upper left fading to greens on the top right. The ground around the mushroom is covered in foliage with what appears to be berries surrounding the mushroom. On the left their color is red while on the right it’s yellow.

Day 23 of #ArtAdventCalendar. I’m sad this is nearly over - it’s been great to see so much art on Bluesky. My offering this evening is a pastel painting from earlier this year, inspired by returning Nightjars in the spring. (Only 158 days until they’re back again. 😉)
A soft pastel painting by Kerrie Ann Gardner of a Nightjar flying at dusk. There are silhouetted Oak leaves and a waxing crescent moon in the painting, too.

Day 23 #ArtAdventCalendar (Untitled bonfire painting), acrylic on canvas, 100 cm x 80 cm, 2024 #art #painting
A vertical acrylic painting of an abstracted bonfire set in a blue and grey background hangs on an off-white wall. The bonfire is made up of dark brown and black log-like shapes, some propped up verically. Red, orange, and yellow flames lick up the logs, curling around each other. The overall shape of the bonfire is triangular. The background is an indistinct mess of grey and dark blue lozenges, some swirling in smoke-like masses.

Painting by Athena Cooper of a glass vase of holiday ornaments. In the mirrored reflection, a couple can be seen sitting at the table in a coffee shop. One figure is in a blue shirt and dark hat with his hands around a coffee mug. The other figure in a dark magenta shirt holds a smartphone up in front of her face taking the image.

#artadventcalendar day 22. This is one of my favourite pieces from the last few years... and it's still available! Maybe someone out there wants to give it a home? This was staged in a little clearing in our woods, on a cold night ❄️ "Candlelit Sunset" 20" x 16" acrylic on wood panel. #art #buyart
An acrylic painting. In the woods, round glass candleholder with a lit tealight candle inside, hanging from the branch of a tree. The light reflects on the tree trunk. In the distance the sun has set and the snow is a dark blue, the trees silhouetted black.
