Macro photograph of an extremely weathered old roadside sign in Thailand. It is so weathered that I found it impossible to discern what the sign was supposed to be displaying. The paintwork is worn and lightly textured but also cracked with sections of it in the process of curling and peeling away from the base metal which is pure brownish rust. The paint is in an irregular pattern of almost white and mid-grey, all of which is partially infused by the orange staining of the underlying rust.

Macro photograph of a vertical stripe of peeling paint on an old metal gate. The top layer of mid-brown paint has peeled away to reveal a lighter cream-coloured layer below which is also flaking away with curled edges to reveal another brown layer below. The range of flake sizes and colouring within the stripe makes it look similar to a section of a tree trunk which also has two stumps of branches and a knot.

The only part remaining is where a spot of glue in the shape of a tadpole still holds it in place while the rest has all disintegrated away. The wall is a textured, faded white with the "tadpole" a similar colour but marked with the horizontal lines of the original corrugated board.

At Waugh Bridge in Houston, Texas an urban colony of 200,000 free-tailed bats 🦇 attract Black Crowned Night Heron. The local Herons have learned to fly up into the grooves under the bridge to dislodge and grab a fresh bat meal 🦇🥢 . Adapt to Thrive!

Both peregrine falcons are very active at Nayang cave (Thailand). Before the bats come out they fly above the cave or perch nearby, often calling loudly. They are also hunting the bats for longer. I think they have chicks. Bats for supper tonight kids...again! #peregrine #falcon #Thailand #birds
