Unless @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social fixes this not amount of ‘access’ will enable people to see GPs 8am- 6.30pm open access without more GPs employed or Partners will not mean more people seeing GPs It used to be 1/1800 in 2010 If you want to see a GP then it needs to be funded or you won’t

There is a further problem with Urgent Treatment Centres, Hubs & top down approach to community care They are hugely more expensive than actual GP appts GPs / District Nurses / HVs have had funding cut whilst alternatives have been funded by NHSE & 2’ care in the community

It is cost effective. It is overloaded and primary care has vastly increased the appointments given, yet all that is said of GPs in these discussions is “you can’t get an appointment”. It far more complex than that, and 10yr plan is not hitting the mark. Where are buildings coming from, the staff?

@newsagents.bsky.social When the NHS is discussed publicly, it’s mainly a discussion on hospitals. GP surgeries do 70-80% of all health care. Health care given by a GP is far more complex and not just the odd minor thing you want to check. Things you used to only see a specialist for.
