@bma.org.uk I just do not understand the BMAs approach to the GP negotiations. Are there negotiations taking place, are we making any progress? It feels like we have laid down and are being left behind by the BMA. The collection action strategy is extremely low key

Ski Sunday was the spark that got so many of us into snowsports. But right now, there's hardly any free-to-air coverage to inspire the next generation. Let’s get the BBC to bring back this iconic show and celebrate our winter athletes! Add your name here: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/sa...

@bma.org.uk is there any data you have to show that GP surgeries are engaging with collective action? I do not feel the approach this time round is having any measurable impact, and bearing in mind the new health sec has not even replied to the BMAs letters it’s fair to be sceptical.

@bma.org.uk @drkatie.bsky.social I have to say, the proposed plan of tackling contract imposition by non engaging with DSAs is very low bar. I cannot see this causing any shift for th government and all the while we will be vulnerable to financial ruin and closure.

@drkatie.bsky.social @bma.org.uk any updates for us? Deadline has passed so assume no movement?

@drkatie.bsky.social thank you and your colleagues for standing up for primary care and the partnerships. I don’t think we’ve ever been so close to going the same way the dentist did, I can see that we’re straightening has said that he’ll talk but I really respect putting expectations in place first

@bma.org.uk @drkatie.bsky.social Can the BMA please consider allowing non member GPs a vote in the referendum. I feel Jon GP partners will be less lieply to vote and may not be looking at the contract changes with the scrutiny needed. We need as many involves as possible.

@drkatie.bsky.social @bma.org.uk I still haven’t received an invite to vote on the imposed contract. I am a GP partner and BMA member, this isn’t the time to be dropping ball getting members to vote.

@bma.org.uk i have not yet received a link to vote on the GP contract. Has there been a delay?

@drkatie.bsky.social @bma.org.uk So if this new contract the outcome of negotiations with primary care? Is there no option to put it to the membership? I doubt everyone is happy, and it is yet another one year contract with nothing to assist transformational change.

@bma.org.uk @drkatie.bsky.social I would really like to see some consideration for how we protect our staff be included in the negotiations. NHSE policies are not zero tolerance, and our staff pay the price. We should be allowed to develop a stand GP policy for this andnjot be dictated to by NHSE

Let’s never forget rationing ventilators and Zoom funerals. Boris Johnson and his cronies partied while our loved ones lay dying alone. COVID-19 was the worst public health crisis in a century. We should have locked down earlier. To some of us, PPE was not a get-rich-quick commodity.

So. Are we still just going to completely ignore primary care when discussing health care? No statistics associated with primary care at all. It’s just the same old narrow view, that all health care is given by hospitals. And we wonder why so many people languish on waiting lists.

@teamlabouruk.bsky.social labour targets your local surgeries. Gives more funding with one hand, takes it back with the other in the form or NI. Voted for change. Labour may actually be the government that pushes GPs the way dentists have gone.

@rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social just listening to the SRM. Can I just make it clear that when we talk about the millions out in the surgeries with the current contract, we weren't able to use any of it other than to pay the new NI charges labour refused to exempt us from.

This. The 10yr plan does NOT have GPs are its heart. There remains significant concerns.

@drkatie.bsky.social I was reading the email sent to the membership discussing the 10yr plan. “Partnership model will be retained where it works well” “my NHS GP AI tool guiding patients”, coupled with no mention of GPs having a leadership/central role, signals a very worrying future for GP partners

@newsagents.bsky.social When the NHS is discussed publicly, it’s mainly a discussion on hospitals. GP surgeries do 70-80% of all health care. Health care given by a GP is far more complex and not just the odd minor thing you want to check. Things you used to only see a specialist for.

@bma.org.uk I don't understand how we are happy to accept a deal that is different and get capped. Why are they happy to shell out to private companies whilst GPs and their staff get pennies for doing far more. Our staff get the brunt of this daily, system not working and GP a good place to vent.

I just think we need to take a moment to consider the big overriding issue of NI. It’s the DoH and the treasury at odds. They say a lot of good things but they are also planning on taking 1000s from NI. The BMA is rightly celebrating their work but this aspect with NI is not resolved.

@bma.org.uk @drkatie.bsky.social @teamgp.bsky.social There’s a concern that momentum is starting to slip, is there any info available on how collective action and GP contract talks are going?

@drkatie.bsky.social well done Katie and her team. The recent letter from @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social is certainly a step in the right direction and shows that collective action has shown just how much GP surgeries do for a fraction of the cost. If secondary care and NHSE can now get in board

#teamGP #primarycare Does anyone in the west or south Yorkshire know any local ENT consultants? Trying to arrange a review for my mum.

This feels well meant, but also very conflicting. We are a valued part of the NHS, yet we are also not part of the NHS, and will be taxed heavily. We are a priority and yet we will be taxed in to oblivion. GP contract talks will be interesting. #primarycare #teamGP @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social

Very, very common. As part of collective action, you can reject the rejection. Its so ridiculous to say that out loud, but its where we are and you've seen the patient and you have referred. Worrying thing here, having very little sight of the patients notes, it was still felt safe to reject.

#PrimaryCare #GeneralPractice #teamgp Do any of your GP surgeries take on responsibility for providing bowel prep for 2WW scopes? We seem to have issues in our area where patients don't get them in time, and ICB looking to ask GPs to take it on. Wonder how this works in other areas
