I asked my youngest nephew - who still lives in the hometown I left long ago - to send me some stones from the old churchyard I walked through each week as a child, on the way to my dear grandad's house. The stones feel so potent with memory and loss, I am afraid to hold them for fear of heartache.

With all my paintings, I have no clue what will appear. I don't know 'how' to paint, you see. I have no learned skills or techniques at all cos they make me afraid of 'getting it wrong'. So I have to create in the moment, trusting impulses & my sense of colour & form. Gotta say, it's never boring!

Most people don't really get the scale of the damage our species has wreaked on the natural world. Which is why I'm planning a very BIG exhibition about humanity's relationship to our Earth. I want to tell a story that's simple and relatable, touching and powerful. And accessible to non academics.

Greenland is absolutely falling over itself to deny any idea of wanting independence from Denmark. (The country has been flirting with the idea of an indie referendum for years...) Very sensible. No longer part of 'the kingdom of Denmark' means no longer part of Nato, and very vulnerable indeed!
