Mostly just Hollywood, housing, or the Bills 🦬 No, I can’t get a coffee with your son’s girlfriend’s cousin’s neighbor’s best friend’s roommate who wants to be a TV writer, but as Gwyneth said, I wish them well.

That adage of separating art from artist feels applicable here, and I can’t say my life is any richer from learning more about Beck as a person. Sea Change, for me, is a melancholy time machine to late 2002, and my fondness for it has very little to do with Beck himself or his source of inspiration.

By the time this merger ruins HBO, destroys WB, gets 5,000 people fired, moves production overseas, and guts the quality of the movies the new studio makes, most people will have forgotten how fast the AGs caved and how little they got in this deal. Writers will not.

Karen Bass has a supermajority of the city council in her corner and apparently the ability to get any random bullshit written into state law. Any ‘change’ she wants to make she’s had the ability and opportunity to make. She doesn’t want change, she wants to keep locking in the status quo.

It’s so messed up that California allows someone like this Tesla driver to keep their license and remain insurable. Regardless of his hopefully very long prison time, ANY crash that results in bodily harm should cause immediate suspension.

I really hate scenes where characters walk away mid-conversation just to prolong resolution for story reasons because I am an Aries and IRL I won’t quit talking until I’ve reiterated my point at least three times and yes this is about Sterling Point.

California's ruling Democrats are just fundamentally unserious about governing this state. They pulled the coward's veto on a bill that'd make it easier to build condos.

It’s ridiculous that initiatives to exempt places that have burned down from state law that allow duplexes is framed as helping “homeowners from being taken advantage of by speculators” as opposed to what it actually does: take away options from homeowners. calmatters.org/housing/2026...

Their town burned to the ground. Should they get a pass from California's new housing laws?
A bill to shield Altadena from two density-boosting housing laws is meant to let the town rebuild on its own terms.

With this ruling, the birthright issue is not going away. The right hasn't really begun *organizing* around getting rid of the citizenship clause. Like Roe, this will be their fight for a generation. And if the Democrats just say "we won" and ignore it, like Roe, the Republicans will eventually win.

One of the bleakest things about American politics is that we're reflexively anti expert on issues that truly have right and wrong answers, but are slavishly obsequious to experts in "the law and the constitution" despite that field being completely made up and fake.
