4/9 done for RIP9 and I love the vibes even tho none of the routes so far have blown me away. my adhd brain digs the way we hop into totally different common routes every 2 guys lol really helps keep the game from feeling repetitive

Manga letterers Can you comment (or DM): any panels you've done that you're proud of any panels you find egregious (can be AI-lettering) any threads you might have done here about your lettering? (it's for a video, so only share what you're comfortable with me sharing--I will credit you) Thanks!

For whatever reason the 特製版 for the 9rip sequel was cheaper than the regular by like $20 so I just got that along with the Amazon special drama CD.

Sucks, then I’m just going drop the game. I’ve got a huge backlog so I don’t want to spend too much time on games that just aren’t enjoyable. 😓

Finished Kureha, which was my first route in 9RIP. Already enjoying it more than charade maniacs, though I will say the romance and chemistry were extremely lackluster, but at least the story captured me. So that’s already progress. I’m probably going to give charade maniacs one more route and if it

Which imo was a really good way of doing it… or give the poor girl a personality. This half-assed she kinda has a personality but kinda doesn’t mean she’s impossible to connect with.

Alyssa Niioka | 新岡ありさ @kyaadere.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

I’ve been playing charade maniacs lately, and the writing in this game is so wildly all over the place. One route I’ll enjoy and the next is garbage tier. It doesn’t help that they made the protagonist a hollow cardboard cut out. like if you wanna make a self insert game, do it like sympathy kiss

Fun fact: "Reviewing an AI made translation" is more work for translators than just translating it themselves, because AI translations do not pass the sniff test beyond the most superficial. It's a loophole companies use as an excuse to underpay translators, and nothing else.

I could write volumes about the Orientalism inherent in expecting translated Asian texts to be somehow intrinsically different in vocabulary and metre to native English. They're not foreign and exotic to local readers, why on earth would you want them to be different for you if you want authenticity

Love working on games, but I've learned in recent years that the excitement of working on a cool game is fleeting. A safety net, time to rest and not overwork, and money for building a life and retiring are more important. The talent will vanish if the industry does not stop underpaying freelancers.

We've been calling them 'words.' But here's the thing: that's not quite tadashii. A kotoba isn't a word. They're something else entirely- a role unique to Japanese gengo. And there's no eigo no kotoba that surus it seigi. So from ima on, wareware tsukau the hontou no kotoba: kotoba.

Kodansha Manga Academy notice about how editors are no longer editors but henshusha, ironically using a dash where a colon should be, I guess they didn't have a good henshusha

make sure you Google set phrases before you assume you know what they mean because you may be assuming incorrectly. I see that happen a lot too. Slow down, double check if you’re not sure. (I have made these same mistakes in the past, no one’s perfect!) And there are always loc discords out there

A lot of mistranslations I’ve seen is because the translator didn’t stop and slow down and read the text properly. Feels like an error caused by speeding through the work, which I can understand in this industry the pay isn’t always the best and sometimes people have packed schedules. That said…
