posting a lot of fic this weekend, forgive me. Here's another one, sad and very romantic archiveofourown.org/works/94374501
AO3 header tags: "you don't know how precious you are (you are the welcoming back from the ocean), by me, Shetland m/m, Jimmy/Duncan, summary:

“Duncan,” Jimmy says, “I can’t believe I’m asking you this, but have you escaped from prison?”

In an Elle interview about her new book Veronica Roth picks @zenaldehyde.bsky.social's Spirits Abroad for "The book that …I'd like to see turned into a TV show or movie" www.yahoo.com/entertainmen...
…I'd like to see turned into a TV show or movie:

The short story "The House of Aunts" by Zen Cho, which is from her collection Spirits Abroad (all of the stories therein are absolutely worth reading). It's a great teen "vampire" story—the character is a pontianak, which is a kind of zombie-vampire in Malay mythology, and she falls in love for the first time...but she has a household of meddlesome aunts to contend with. It would be a refreshing change from the typical sexiness of the teen vampire canon while scratching the same itch.

Puce is SUCH a green word! It's so yellow-green that thinking about it, maybe puce could be chartreuse, and vermillion could swap with something poorly named in the forest green area

It's 12:27am and I simply must share my truth: Chartreuse and vermillion should swap which colours they refer to. Chartreuse is objectively a red word and vermillion is objectively a green word

That makes so much sense! I would say the main question that occurs to me is why this is one small study 25 years ago, and whether there's anything more recent out there. But tbh in some under-researched areas of medicine that really is as good as it gets

K | krfabian @krfabian.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
What you can't really conclude from such a small number of people is how big the difference "really" is - it seems likely there's some sort of difference between your average person with or without Gilbert's, but it could be much bigger or smaller than the one seen here 3/3
110
K | krfabian @krfabian.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
With that disclaimer, however, you could interpret their findings as, "The difference between the two groups was so big and consistent that - even given the small number of people - you'd be unlikely to see such an extreme difference by chance if there were no underlying difference at all" 2/3

K | krfabian @krfabian.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
They're reporting it as statistically significant (that's what p<0.03 means here - typically a p value of 0.05 or lower is the threshold for that) though without seeing the paper itself I can't really judge if they did the right statistical test or if their overall methods make sense 1/2
