It's forever wild that people see "I never liked their work anyway" as an accomplishment. "I'm not engaging with art I thought was crap" is not an ethical stance. "I'm moving away from something important to me because condemning what they did matters more" actually says something.

I was 8 and on holiday with my parents in the US. We saw it on the news in our hotel room, and my parents talked about the weird feeling of finding out while everyone we knew back home was still asleep. Mostly I found watching her sons have to go through it all really publicly really upsetting.

Fuck’s sake. Why do companies that make things for toddlers insist on having multiple designs or not making it clear what’s in the package. Packs of Pampers nappies have two different designs on, and the #hatchling always has strong feelings about only wanting the one she likes best!

Mrs P taught religious studies and philosophy and was far more interested in her students’ opinions and hosting interesting discussions than she was in drilling the syllabus into us. She did a session on Plato’s cave in that weird gap between GCSEs and A-Levels that changed everything for me.

A music teacher told 7yo me I couldn’t sing, and I just fully accepted that as fact for years and resigned myself to only ever doing non-musical theatre. So many school plays I missed out on! Finally made up for lost time and was the lead in a musical at the Fringe, so suck on that Miss E.
