Toowoomba, the small country Queensland town I am in, has a railway station built in 1867 that has not changed in any respect since, and feels ghostly with its two services a week (this is mid-morning on a weekday in September). (I gravitate to stations in foreign places, it’s a genetic trait)

Some former colleagues of mine did this, and then discovered they had forgotten to enquire about the seal's holiday plans.

Back in London. The Lakes are beautiful, my friends taught me to knit and paddleboard, I swam in Coniston Water and in the Coppermines waterfalls, the sun was 90% eclipsed, and I still miss my dad terribly. I want to tell him that all that he loved is still there.
