I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

I realize it often feels like nothing matters anymore, but a comedian going on SNL and calling women whores— calling the ordinary women he sees at the gym *whores* — because of their clothes matters to me. It’s really gross, and I’m glad Levy said something.

I was telling someone yesterday that the WPBL was able to be openly queer because of how queer Black women in the WNBA fought to live and play out loud, which opened doors for the NWSL and so on. A whole generation of little girls and enbies will imagine a different world than we did.

I learned this week that the New York Times was founded 175 years ago. There is a useful set of pieces floating around on this for journalism history buffs. But what struck me is that means the Times was founded 25 years *after* the black press which will celebrate its 200th birthday in a few months

IMO, we need a wholesale revaluation of faculty scholarship, like they do with currency, because the amount of scholarship expected of job candidates is also out of whack. Whether this is a back-formation from the tenure book IDK, but essentially needing a completed ms for hiring isn't good either.

Black text on white page that reads:

Whether you call it New York City, Nueva Yol, or PueblaYork, Hispanic and Latino New Yorkers are at the heart of the city we love.

From the labor activism of Luisa Moreno, to the marches of the Young Lords in the South Bronx in 1969.

From Juan Rodriguez, a free, mixed-race Dominican sailor who became the first non-indigenous resident of Manhattan in 1613, to Jose Alvarado, NYCHA's very own Knicks Champion.

From the Nuyorican Poets Café on the Lower East Side, to Toñita's in Williamsburg, New York City would not be New York City without its Hispanic Heritage.

And yet, more than three-quarters of Latino New Yorkers struggle to afford living in New York City. As we mark Hispanic Heritage Month, we remember that Hispanic and Latino families must be at the heart of our affordability agenda.

ICE hasn’t paid for detainee medical care since October. Advocates call it the ‘death policy’
ICE owes millions in unpaid bills to hospitals and, in some cases, detainees themselves have been directly billed for care, records show.

This is why that Wired piece was insulting. It started from a place of asking whether perimenopausal treatment was really all that necessary, whether it was overprescribed, whether women were imagining symptoms after seeing too many ads on Instagram. The piece did not ask doctors why they were shit at being doctors. It did not take on medical betrayal, or medical distrust. No, it only asked, with mock astonishment, why there are so many symptoms of perimenopause and whether some people simply "believe" they have it.

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
Not only is this system astonishingly untested, USPS has simultaneously implemented an
impracticable zero percent failure rate.
13 When ballots are submitted to USPS in large-volume
batches, if any one ballot in the batch cannot be verified against the Portal, all ballots in that
batch will be rejected. For example, if a state election official brings a batch of 10,000 ballots to
USPS and USPS is unable to match just one of those ballots against the Portal – because, for
example, someone has recently changed their name after marriage or they’ve moved – then
USPS would refuse to mail the remaining 9,999 ballots as well. As the whistleblower notes,
