The General Aire M3 Humidistat is a triumph of UI design (derogatory). In the pre-internet age I would have had no clue what this knob in our new house is.

so many cis people (and trans people tbh) don’t realize the root behind what a lot of society teaches us to laugh at is to keep us all conforming to compulsory cisness ask yourself WHY something is supposed to be funny and you’ll get to the root of it, and might be surprised what you find

It's every time we laugh at a man in a dress or a boy who likes dolls, or laugh at a woman with a deep voice or a girl with a short haircut.
We are taught to mock, deride, and hate ourselves. And most of us spend our entire lives trying to undo the INTERNALIZED TRANSPHOBIA that society implanted in us.

there is no such thing as "age verification." All "age verification" is actually "identity verification." You can coat it in glitter and "privacy-preserving" wrapping paper. But in the end, mandating age verification means mandating surveillance be built into software and hardware. Period.

I was an RA at a party school in the mid-2000s. Finding someone blackout drunk with their friends insisting they just need to sleep it off is nightmare shit. Watching freshmen deteriorate from alcohol-induced brain damage that we can do nothing to stop is nightmare shit. I'm not nostalgic for it.
