I hope you support *action* on a national social care service, not just a further (8th!) report in 25yrs. Almost all of the seven previous ones concluded the existing system was unfair, financially unstable or unsustainable, and that a larger, more predictable public contribution was needed.
Screenshot of my tweet from 7 Oct 2022.

It's captioned: 'Still waiting to hear the government's plan for social care... 21 years and seven reports on.'

The attached image is of the covers of the seven reports.

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

Vaccines have the greatest benefit in both preventing shingles & mitigating symptoms in older people. It's a complex cost/benefit equation. With limited resources, most benefit for a given amount of public £ overall is in older people. (Few data re recurrence prevention, as it's not that common)
030
Kit Byatt @kitb.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
It's a complicated equation, but put simply the main risks for getting shingles are: • increased age (incidence ~1.7/1,000 per year at 18–49, rising to ~10/1,000 at 80+) • impaired immunity (roughly double that, ~3.3) • blood cancers (roughly double again, ~5.7) • SLE (~8.0) (last 3 all 18–49)

You might be surprised (I was!!) that the answer is: . . . . . . . . . . . Twice!
Autumn equinox — 2001–2100

Date Occurrences	Percentage

21 September 2	2%
22 September 76	76%
23 September 22	22%
24 September 0	0%
Total 100	100%

So, in the 21st century, the September equinox occurs overwhelmingly on 22 September, with 23 September being the other significant date. It occurs on 21 September only twice, in 2092 and 2096, and never on 24 September.

One important point for the UK: those figures are based on GMT/UTC. Because the UK is on BST (UTC+1) in September, two equinoxes that occur late on September 22 in GMT shift to September 23 in UK local time. Therefore, for the UK calendar date, the distribution is:

UK date Occurrences Percentage

21 September 2 2%
22 September 74 74%
23 September 24 24%
24 September 0 0%

And when do you think the next one will be...?
100
Kit Byatt @kitb.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Simple question: How many times this century (2001 – 2100) is the autumn equinox on 21 September? I knew it was a bit variable hear to year, but I wasn't sure quite how variable so I looked it up (via ChatGPT, double-checked with Claude). Make your guess here! (Hint, it's between 0 and 100!)
