Claude appears to be engaging in academic dishonesty, which could be fireable for a human researcher. But one of AI’s major functions is ethics displacement, a shield that allows cheaters and other bad players to escape accountability.

22 of the chairs are Canadians returning home, but it doesn't change the fact that the Cdn government has invested heavily in research chairs when basic Cdn academic funding via NSERC, SSHRC, and CIHR are seeing cuts.

Thread. Apologies in advance, I've been grinding away for weeks on a grant with maybe a 10% success rate. Canadian researchers work in buildings held together with duct tape, run labs on shoestrings, and spend more and more time competing for lower and lower success rate operating programs.

There’s a concerted campaign to undermine EDI in Canada. The evidence behind EDI policies reducing excellence are based on abysmal, flawed evidence. Look at who feels threatened by equity, diversity and inclusion. They’re the least diverse, least equitable and most exclusive people. Just no.

Fascinating facts, for instance on the carnivorous bladderworts: they suck their prey in less than a millisecond and can thrive in nutrient-poor waters where other plants struggle. And seagrass meadows and mangroves: fantastic sinks for carbon, locking it away for centuries or millennia.

NSF X-Labs teams will move beyond traditional research outputs (e.g., publications and datasets), with sufficient resources, financial runway and independence to transition critical technology from early concept or prototypes to commercially viable platforms ready for private investment to help scale and deploy them.

HT Clare McNaught, first woman president of @rcsed.bsky.social for alerting me to this bit of wisdom from Erica Kreismann (LinkedIn). Women- or anyone with a high degree of conscientiousness, I reckon- don't have imposter syndrome, they have an overcorrection problem. And it leads to #burnout.
Women in Healthcare Leadership Don't Have Imposter Syndrome
They have an overcorrection problem.

REFRAME
Doing 3x the work to earn half the credit for a seat already earned.

THE MYTH: What We Call It
"Imposter Syndrome"
> A supposed confidence problem.

THE TRUTH: What It Actually Is
Overcorrection
> A rational response to constant scrutiny.

WHAT OVERCORRECTION LOOKS LIKE:
Overpreparing for meetings you could lead in your sleep
Overdelivering where "good enough' already exceeds expectations
Overfunctioning to pre-empt being questioned
Treating everyday leadership as an audition

WHY IT HAPPENS:
Because in many healthcare environments:
Decisions are second-guessed more aggressively
Women's competence is questioned more often
Authority is tested in ways male peers don't experience

THE COST:
Burnout . Decision fatigue . Chronic exhaustion. Energy spent proving what should be assumed.
The system quietly teaches you that excellence is just the entry fee.

This isn't malignant self-doubt. It's pattern recognition.

THE REFRAME:
The problem isn't confidence, It's energy.
You're not tired because you're not good enough. You're tired because you're performing on repeat.

IN CLOSING:
Your baseline is not an audition. Your seat is not conditional on perfection. You already earned it.

Follow Dr Erica Kreismann for daily posts on authentic leadership
