Charitably I fondly look on homecoming as "excited to grow up" and FFH as "trying to cling to childhood" and NWH as.. Messier but he does come into his own as an adult through that ending and into BND. BND blows the other three out of the water though it's not even close unfortunately

Was going to make a comic about a funny ADHD situation but you know what, it wasn't funny and I cried because I'm just so exhausted before the day even starts (I have a book linktr.ee/adhdalien/)

Kiki is standing in a messy kitchen with a plunger in one hand and a stuffed crocodile in the other. She looks deflated, saying "Why did I come to the kitchen with a plunger and a croc- no you know what I don't care."

Kiki is drawn in a more detailed, black and white style, looking pretty rough and tired. Text says "ADHD isn't funny and I'm an adult and I just want to get things done. I'm tired."

Crazy ass moments in DC history 🇧🇷🏳️‍🌈 @dcmoments.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

While Marv Wolfman was writing "Crisis On Infinite Earths" (1985-1986), other DC writers complained he wasn't killing off any of his own characters, only theirs. This led to the creation of Kole, a Teen Titan who died in the final issue of COIE, less than a year after her debut.

A screenshot from the website Women In Refrigerators, titled Marv Woflman Responds, questioning why female characters are killed, sidelined, turned evil or "married off against their will."

Wolfman's answer: I think it generally means killing female heroes is supposed to elicit more emotions from readers than killing male readers. Of the list I killed only two, and two were created to die (Terra and Kole) though Kole was, in retrospect, a mistake which I did because other writers complained we weren't killing off any of my characters in Crisis, and if I wanted their characters to die I had to kill one of mine.

I think the wholesale slaughter is because there's a lot of writers who think all major character motivation is made by killing folk and women characters are easier to kill than male characters since so few of them are major heroes on their own. It is true that although some of the best characters are female characters almost no female starring book has ever survived with the exception of Wonder Woman, and that survives only because of licensing potential; its sales have never been good. The reason for that is, I fear, that most boys want to read stories about big muscled guy heroes showing off than gal heroes. They want the girl heroes there in the background, and even important to books, but they rarely if ever buy a book starring a female. Younger boys I think are frightened to some degree by the overly muscled women even while they may find a sexual delight in them.

Having always created lots of female characters, and doing some good work on them, I think, by making them all individuals (whether someone liked the Titans or not, Starfire, Wonder Girl and Raven were not in any way the same person in different latex costumes), I find most female heroes that other writers do are simply cookie-cut outs. Since a very few of these are anything special, it's easy to knock them off. Acknowledging that does not condone it. It merely explains it.

Excerpt from an interview with George Pérez. It reads:

Andy: What's the true story behind Kole and Azrael? Did you create those characters?

George: I actually designed it entirely differently. There is a drawing I did of Azrael that doesn’t look anything like Jose Luis Garcia Lopez’s version of Azrael. Originally, Marv came up with the idea of an angel at the time I was still on the book. Then, when I left the book, I thought it would be unfair for Jose, with his design sense, that every character he does is based on a George Perez design, since Azrael was never printed. So I let him design Azrael, and while he was on the book, he was also entitled to design Kole. Even though Kole was printed in CRISIS before she appeared in TITANS, that was because of the timing — I had gotten the xerox of Jose’s pencils. Jose designed both of them. Azrael was originally designed looking totally different, and Jose came up with his own version; he never saw mine. No one has seen except for Marv.

Andy: Was Kole created to die?

George: Yes. I told Marv, ‘‘If we create another Teen Titan, then we better create a woman who's going to survive.”’ So far, he’s created one new male Titan, he’s alive. Creates two female Titans, they both die. Hahahah. Something he has about these girls — he’s constantly, you know, killing them off.

sometimes they say what you need to hear without really knowing

a comic drawn in ink and watercolor:

a red coyote sits at a table, beer in paw, with some friends, including a blue raccoon.

the coyote is nervously thinking to itself, "How do I know if my friends really like me?"

it floats in midair as it further dissociates, "Is any of this even real?"

it is snapped out of its trance by a call, "Hey!"

the blue raccoon is smiling at it. neither says a word.

the blue raccoon's smile grows, looking somewhat sinister. the coyote stammers, "Wh-what?"

the raccoon sips its drink and says, "I looooove you~"

the coyote laughs, flustered, perhaps relieved.
