i wish it was more feasible to make interesting and transgressive art like Dennis Cooper's "The Sluts" (just finished, great read!) without getting a dozen callout posts about how you and your art is "problematic". the "keep furry weird***" hypocrites love to limit what stories can be told.

yesterday i played my first little set (music) in front of an audience, sharing my most personal art with people who i admire, idolize, and love, as well as unfamiliar but welcome new faces. very casual, more of a social gathering than a "show", but nonetheless incredibly significant.

a comic drawn in ink and watercolor:

a red coyote sits at a table, beer in paw, with some friends, including a blue raccoon.

the coyote is nervously thinking to itself, "How do I know if my friends really like me?"

it floats in midair as it further dissociates, "Is any of this even real?"

it is snapped out of its trance by a call, "Hey!"

the blue raccoon is smiling at it. neither says a word.

the blue raccoon's smile grows, looking somewhat sinister. the coyote stammers, "Wh-what?"

the raccoon sips its drink and says, "I looooove you~"

the coyote laughs, flustered, perhaps relieved.

what else am i gonna do with the alt text but name these silly fuckers. okay, so left to right:
- Mantucket McBride, on the bass. he sold his tail for cigarettes.
- Jimbo "Limbo" Sleeves, on the banjo. he keeps playing even when he falls asleep.
- Willem "Wildin' Willy" Yancy, on the drums. not allowed at the dinner table because he'll play all the spoons.
- "Roadkill" Rick McFungus, the vocalist. if he is not dragged forcefully from the stage and put in a cage, he will continue to perform until he passes out.
- "Silly Cigs" Syd Ferguson-Lump, on the acoustic guitar. he is also the backing vocalist, though being vocal non-verbal, no one is quite sure if he's even singing along with Rick.
- Beavis "Toots" McGribble, on the trombone. he can play every other wind instrument you can think of, but owes a life-debt to his trombone, Jesse Tuck.
- Petey "Corncob" Ferguson-Lump, on the washboard. brother of Silly Cigs Syd, or maybe his dad, no one is actually sure. he holds the records for most times being hit by a car, a fact which he keeps secret for the sake of Rick's roadkill image.

it's really fun when you wake up in the dark in the middle of the night with absolutely no feeling and movement in your right arm from the shoulder down. that's like a super cool thing to have happen when your dumb sleepy animal brain can't rationalize what's happening.
