I don’t think it’s especially likely that AI will end all life on Earth sometime soon. But it is BATSHIT INSANE that so many AI company leaders think their product will kill us all, while also strongly opposing basic safety regulations that would prevent that from happening!

You can’t really learn much if you’re having AI generate your homework, your papers, and everything else you need to complete a class, but for some reason universities keep shoving AI into the learning environment on the assumption that it’s an improvement.

One of the many sins of genAI is that the societal necessity of staying vigilant for it frequently turns into a policing strategy, often with punitive consequences for the handful of people who still write and make art with human integrity. I hope this student wins their suit.
