89% of SBE NSF grants were never awarded!! My field (Cognitive Neuroscience) is included in this gutting, as are so many others. Plenty of horror stories in the same space are also coming from NIH. It’s not just delaying research; it’s labs shutting down and a next gen that won’t be trained.

More than ever, we need more walkable neighborhoods. The rapid rise of WFH and Covid generally breaking modern society means a *lot* of people touch grass way less often than they used to. A 20-minute walk, even to nowhere in particular, can do wonders.

Great news for Canada. #1 with most trees per person: 94,400.000 Now, lets work on EQUITY in cities.Upper income areas have over 40% tree canopy; lower income ones under 10%, many under 5%. Proposal: for next 5 - 10 years ALL budget for tree planting should be for U-10% areas.
