Open source maintainers are starting to get all manner of communiques from the compliance & legal departments of huge corporations using vaguely threatening and legal-sounding language and demanding the maintainer fill out forms and reports and attest to the security of their project "because CRA".

This article is fascinating! What should, on paper, be the truest possible way to be faithful to the original intent fails to account for technical limitations, now absent, that the original was designed to incorporate and accommodate.

As many people have observed, the problem with vaccines is that they work *too* well. The incredible, astounding, profound wonders of vaccines led many people to think of measles as a rash, the flu as a bad cold, mumps as a thing that makes you look like Brando playing Don Corleone.

Tower Bridge will be closed to all road and pedestrian traffic on Sunday 30th August between 6am and 9am - which, depending on how close you can get on the road, might be a rare chance to photograph it minus any road traffic.

Back when I had Twitter I used to offer free headshots for low-income authors, not sure I have much reach here but the offer is still there. London or Birmingham (although I’m in Glasgow and Edinburgh at the end of Aug and can fit in a session. Will have lights so can be indoors).

No doubt the world is on fire, but this kind of fear mongering and blatant misrepresentation of the temperature data in the chart (anomaly chart) does more harm than good. It’s so easy to verify that Alexander Bay did not reach 36.1°. The 13° above average is the kick in the teeth

Pure gold this: “Goldman Sachs builds an altar to Benjamin in their lobby and cuts out the heart of a junior analyst on it every Friday. They call it “Blood Sacrifice Friday.” The name isn’t catchy, but the event becomes a management favorite nonetheless.

The whole Claude package is a stack of tricks specifically aimed at the current gen of mid/late career engineers, who are likely to be making tooling & process decisions for teams. The retro look makes it feel like the kind of tool that we spent our early careers mastering to boost our productivity.
