At no point does this article explain how the system works and what kind of AI -- which is now a buzzword -- is involved. Is it an LLM or equivalent, is it another form or machine learning? Knowing that would be helpful for the public. Maybe they couldn't, but that would be info too.

Bro, the Pope sent the White Sox letter, they’re going to the World Series.
Letter:

To Jerry Reinsdorf
Chairman of the Chicago White Sox
was pleased to receive the kind letter that you sent following the game that took place at Rate Field on August 11, 2026. I am most grateful for this thoughtful gesture.
As I have noted,
"sport can truly become a school of life,
where all can learn that abundance does not come from victory at any cost, but from sharing, from respecting others and from the joy of walking together" (Letter Life in Abundance, 6 February
2026).
In this spirit, it is my hope that the White Sox will
continue to foster
bonds of friendship
and solidarity among
people, and thus bear hopeful witness to the possibility of living and working together in peace.
With
these sentiments, I willingly invoke the Almighty's
abundant blessings upon you and your loved ones.
From the Vatican, 9 September 2026

This is the reason so many people in power push AI. They do not care that it is wrong a substantial amount of the time because it gives them what they really want: someone to tell them they are always right. A certain kind of leader hates nothing so much as an expert telling them they're wrong.

It's been 17 months since I wrote, in April 2025, that the "fun part of the Blackhawks’ rebuild" was about to begin. That hasn’t really happened yet. Last season was interesting, but not exactly fun. Will that change this season? New column: chicago.suntimes.com/blackhawks/2...

Will the fun part of Blackhawks' rebuild finally arrive this season?
The Hawks have spent many painful years accumulating a group of young NHL players they believe in. How they perform this season will go a long way toward determining if that belief is well-placed.

People handle tasks so complex and with so many shifting variables as part of our day-to-day existence that the complexity is underestimated. It’s like how knitting machines have existed for over 400 years but there still isn’t a machine that can crochet, though we think of those tasks as comparable

Planning dinner is, for many many many people, about what they have on hand, what they can afford, how work schedules change day-to-day, kids’ complicated schedules, individual preferences. The idea that this just a series of tasks is a huge cultural blindspot — which was my original point.

Because why would engineering students ever need to study the ways their very expertise has been used and abused in the past, the way 'oh, I'm just an engineer solving a problem' has been a necessary and foundational lie in every modern system of oppression or extermination?

I am so tired of the "I'm just a lil' ol' engineer bit". I do not believe this person doesn't understand the reason history in engineering matters. He just wants to claim he doesn't so he can do what he wants regardless of cost and claim he didn't understand.

finally, the culture of AI is so bankrupt, so divorced from the basic discipline of markets that it doesn't need a market to make a profit. so the tech is targeting the people they know or can culturally recognize.
