This a good summary. I'd just add the influence of right-wing think tanks like Policy Exchange, the IEA, Henry Jackson, Bruges Group etc who employ young influencers & feed the "cancelled"/"Save The West" media ecosystem.

The Lola Salem story is starting to make sense now. But it makes the original deletions by the Mail, Telegraph, GB News and others look like the result of pressure. [story in the Mail, archive link] archive.is/submit/?url=...
The academic denied the charges at a pre-trial hearing earlier this year and remains on bail ahead of her trial, which is expected to last two to three days.
It is understood that she will argue in her defence that she was sent the four images unsolicited and that she reported them to the police.
Salem was charged by Thames Valley Police in May this year along with Henry Hopwood-Phillips, a historian and geopolitical analyst with whom she worked at The Critic magazine.
Hopwood-Phillips, 39, founded a Singapore-based political consultancy that specialises in analysing China's geopolitics.
In June he admitted two counts of taking an indecent photograph and two counts of distributing indecent photographs of a child at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court.
He was handed a 15-month suspended sentence, a sexual harm prevention order and made subject to

It is very interesting that the Mail’s story on Michael Gove’s recent ex-girlfriend being charged with CSAM offences has been memoryholed two days after it was published. Public records show she appeared at Oxford Combined Court centre on September 30 and pleaded not guilty.

The campaign of educational censorship sweeping Texas and other GOP-governed states in the name of “free speech” and “diversity of viewpoint” in many ways exceeds the worst of the McCarthy Era (gift link obvs) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...
You have to go back to the loyalty oath cases of the Cold War period to see relatively analogous situations where the government was trying to silence academics with viewpoints that they didn’t like,” Emerson Sykes, an attorney with the ACLU, told me. “But even in those cases, we did not see the sort of brazen attempt to ban particular ideas or ideologies and scrub them from the public record or from public education.”

Unveiling of the statue of Nelson Mandela today in Glasgow. 33 years after I stood in George Sq in the rain as a steward when he came to accept freedom of the city, I got to stand in the rain again as a steward. Here's my mum sat behind Mandela in 1993, and my dad holding banner on a torchlit vigil.

It wasn't till a few weeks ago that I discovered Milquetoast is a cartoon character.
A panel from the newspaper cartoon the The Timid Soul showing the main character Milquetoast (an elderly, thin man with a long mustache and a startled, dismayed expression) being embarrassed as a telegram boy calls out his name ("Mr Milquetoast. Mr Caspar Milquetoast!) and a man next to him says "can you imagine anyone answering to the name of Milquetoast? I'd sure like to see the bird who owns that moniker! Haw! Haw! Haw! He must be a hit sketch. A caption at the bottom reads "He misses an important message. They're in a travel agency.

Zionism does cross the political spectrum, it's just unfortunate that the loudest voices in favour of it these days are right-wing racists who think culture is passed on by "ancestry" - which is pretty weird considering they're all pundits using the media to shape our culture.

I favour 2-states - but I think realistically Israel will last as long as America backs it & will then either dwindle because of demographic change or will get invaded. I'm not sure any middle-eastern states will be the same hundreds of years from now. It's a volatile region with random borders.

"BRITAIN BECOMES DUMP FOR THE NAXI EXILES. Scores of Jews and other exiles are being smuggled into England in small foreign ships, for £25 a time." Daily Mirror, 1938. Sound familiar?
Headline: Britain becomes dump for the Nazi exilesSCORES of Jews and other exiles, abandoning their homes in the Nazi terror, are being smuggled into England by the captains of small foreign ships who slink inside the three-mile limit at night and put ashore their human cargoes for £25 a time.
This smuggling, once sporadic, is now a racket earning thousands of pounds weekly for captains of French, Dutch and Belgian trawlers.
It was exposed entirely at Hove, yesterday when two foreign seamen were gaoled for smuggling a German in at Shoreham harbour last Monday.
Britain's immigration officers are helpless. They know that Hitler is dumping his unwanted people here. They cannot stop other Mid-European Governments seizing on Britain's lethargy to lower their own unemployment figures.
Every day refugee Spaniards, Jews, Ger mans and Austrians are slipping into Britain Employment agencies are inundated by fran-tic appeals from foreigners who, scared by European unrest, want British security.
