Sydney Marathon. Who told NSW Police to run bodyguard for Israel’s army?According to the officer, each runner was assigned between four and six police, dressed as competitors, running the 42 kilometres beside them. The point is bigger than six runners. Up to 40 current and former IDF soldiers were admitted to Australia without any apparent screening, for a fun run, in the face of public anger at who they were and what they had reportedly done in Gaza.Public picks up the tab

🇱🇧 Israel’s Defense Minister publicly boasted that Israel had destroyed 24 Shi'ite villages in southern Lebanon. "We destroyed all the buildings, not house by house, no incrimination. All these villages have been completely destroyed, 15,000-20,000 homes.”

🔹Haaretz reports, citing Planet Labs imagery, that Israel has seized roughly 600 square kilometers (230 square miles) of southern Lebanon, extending as far as 12 kilometers inside the country, while razing villages and entrenching its military presence, similar to its actions in Gaza.

🔹Israeli forces have built at least 7 new bases and 32 kilometers of logistical roads across the occupied area, also seizing strategic positions such as Beaufort Castle and Christofani Ridge, and destroying the overwhelming majority of buildings in major population centers like Khiam and Maroun al-Ras.

🔹Defense minister Katz has declared that 200,000 Lebanese would not return home. A senior defense official described the objective as creating a “scorched earth mindset.”

🔹A senior officer said troops were ordered to prepare to remain for up to a year, while Defense Minister Katz instructed the military to build outposts “as if we would stay there for 50 years.”

⭕️ Israel is holding at least 191 Palestinian children without charge or trial under administrative detention, up from 103 in January 2025, according to data from Parents Against Child Detention reported by the Times of Israel.

The March 2026 figure represents an 85% increase in just over a year.

Under administrative detention, Palestinians can be imprisoned indefinitely without trial. They are generally not told the full allegations against them, while evidence used to justify their detention is routinely classified and withheld from them and their attorneys.

This might be one of the funniest chart about energy scenarios I’ve seen. You can hardly see “actual” for gas
Winners and Losers
The IEA overestimated gas growth in Asia and underestimated solar

Gas
• Forecast 547 TWh
• Actual 17 TWh

Solar
• Forecast 465 TWh
• Actual 1,333 TWh

Note: Shows expected growth in Asian power generation between 2018 and 2025, based on actual 2018 generation, actual 2025 generation, and the 2018 World Energy Outlook's Current Policies Scenario estimates for 2025. Actual 2025 generation figures are from Ember.

I Excel'd the power cons of Google's deal with Elon Musk's fossil-fuelled data centre. Took me ~10 seconds Claude returned a similar answer, but consumed as much energy as **fully discharging** two smartphones, to do it This is why the shift to reliance on LLMs bloats energy consumption so badly
“We believe our compute infrastructure and related strategy provide us with substantial flexibility in how we allocate and monetise capacity,” SpaceX wrote in its IPO filing inside the section of “compute service agreements with third parties.”

Over a hundred thousand dedicated processors
According to a regulatory filing on Friday, Google will use 110,000 Nvidia GPUs, processors and memory components deployed in SpaceX’s data centres.

The utilisation window will be between October 2026 and June 2029.

The regulatory filing of SpaceX111000	units

77700000	watts
77.7	MW
Here's a breakdown of the power consumption for 110,000 Nvidia GPUs, using the H100 as the reference (the most common high-end AI GPU):

Power Consumption: 110,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs
Per-GPU specs
The H100 PCIe model has a TDP of 350W, while the SXM5 (data center) variant supports up to 700W TDP. Hyperstack

On average during operations, an H100 draws around 500W, so a realistic cluster of 110,000 would consume roughly 55 megawatts under typical load. LinkedIn

To put 55–77 MW in perspective:

⚡ ~45,000–65,000 average homes — a small city's worth of residential electricity
🏭 Comparable to a mid-sized industrial facility or large data center campus
🌍 About the power output of a small hydroelectric dam
📅 Annually (~61% utilization): roughly 290,000–410,000 MWh/year

Context: 110,000 H100s is roughly the scale of a large hyperscaler AI cluster — similar to what Microsoft, Google, or Meta deploy for frontier model training. The cooling and power infrastructure alone for such a cluster is a significant engineering challenge, typically requiring dedicated substations and often liquid cooling systems.

Conflation of the Israeli government with Jewish people was Australia's "fastest-growing" form of antisemitism, she said.
