You’re right—that plane shouldn’t have gone there. That’s my fault, and I should have made sure there wasn’t a terminal in the landing path. Would you like me to call emergency services, or assist with lining up takeoffs?

A wee algorithmic chuckle. First, an image of a tweet by @acyn, quoting professional 5th-place whiner Riley Gaines on a WNBA game: "It was a bunch of disgruntled lesbians" and "the entire arena was booing Sophie Cunningham." Then, an unrelated skeet by @proptermalone, which reads "hurts to see somebody else living my dream."

I've seen everyone sharing that US Dialect Quiz so I decided to make my own, much crappier, CANADIAN DIALECT QUIZ to guess where in Canada you're from
A flow chart I have created with multiple questions and the answers determine where you're from.

Question 1 is do you call it a hydro bill (which then branches down to ON, QC, BC, MB) or an electric bill (which then branches down to SK, AB, NS, NB, PEI, NL)

Question 2 is do you call it a cabin (BC, MB, AB, SK) cottage (ON and atlantic) camp (northern Ontario) chalet (QC) or bungalow (Cape Breton)

To delineate BC from MB: do you call it dinner or supper

To delineate southern Ontario rural or big city: have you heard of a stag & doe

To delineate SK from AB: do you call a hoodie a bunnyhug

And finally to delineate NL from the other atlantic provinces: whaddayat? (Correct answer: dis is it b'y)

A new @bmj.com study has found that between a minimum of 24.5% to a maximum of 97.7% of the NFL players who died between 2016-2021 had CTE. This means a huge portion of those who will play this week *already have the disease.* www.theguardian.com/sport/2026/s...

CTE in football players is a health crisis. It’s time for us to stop watching
A new study offers more evidence that America’s biggest sport produces life-altering head trauma. The NFL will never turn itself off, so it’s on fans to do so

Goofy takes like this (the piece, not the post) are so deeply rooted in fatphobia + ableism. It's also what holds a lot of people back from body-movement-stuff that probably would indeed make them feel better, b/c they think if they're not at the gym at 6am for 90min every morning there's no point.

Jennifer Nelson’s entry to this year’s Minnesota State Fair crop art
A localized version of Guernica with a loon at the center and a person holding an ICE OUT sign

“My piece was inspired by Picasso's Guernica, a work that was his response to the Nazi's bombing of the Basque town. I thought there was a fitting parallel between these incidents about the high price paid by ordinary people when aggressive regimes try out new tactics of war, as well as a fitting juxtaposition of the darkness of living such an experience and the light we shone through it in our own resistance and care for one another. The patterns near Renee Good and Alex Pretti’s mouths are actually their last words in Morse code: ‘I’m not mad at you,’ and ‘Are you okay?’”

It’s important to be clear that the truth value of a subject does not become debatable just because somebody wants to debate. Ether. Wandering wombs. Devils in red heads, the cursed left handed. Flat earth. Phrenology. Humors. Race science. “Debate me bro!” It’s fine for the answer to be: no.

One thing I remember and hardly anyone seems to is that there's a sort of sexual revolution interregnum when all sex was good (seen from the adult male perspective, which it mostly was) including sex with children, which was publicly defended. Feminism, mostly, is what changed that.

this was the moment in the Michigan Supreme Court's opinion that I decided I would be writing about this case ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...
screenshotted excerpt from a court opinion, linked in article, reading as follows:

Approximately two hours and 45 minutes after defendant invoked his right to counsel, Beasley returned. Beasley did not address defendant or provide him with information about efforts to locate an attorney. Beasley was accompanied by a uniformed officer who removed defendant’s handcuffs and then had defendant turn around so that he could handcuff defendant with his arms behind his back. This exchange followed:

Defendant: Where . . . where my lawyer?

Beasley: You don’t got one . . . so . . .

Defendant: Wait . . . huh?

Beasley: You don’t have a lawyer. You got one?

Defendant: No . . . I . . . you said . . .

Beasley: We tried to get . . . we tried to call one. Ain’t nobody
available and you ain’t got no money . . . so . . .

Defendant: Yeah I do. The money that I came in with. You can’t
use . . . that?

Beasley: I can’t use that money.

Defendant: Aww come on.

Being a freeloading piece of shit, but wokely
But perhaps the most enraging part of their now-finished relationship is that Naomi's boyfriend used politics to justify his apathy.
He considered himself a communist, read Marx in his spare time, and was part of a friend group full of other jobless men who found it embarrassing to care about work.
"They hate the finance bro," Naomi says, "But in their push to reject that, they're now doing nothing." McKayla, who requested a pseudonym along with the other women in this story, has clocked a similar phenomenon.
She says her boyfriend and his friends are
"super-granola crunchy liberals" who see striving for power as anti-feminist. They want to separate themselves from predatory CEOs and men on the right who think women are working pretend "email jobs" and shouldn't even have the right to vote. "They think treating women respectfully cannot exist with being a hyperambitious provider," she says.
"They think if you make six figures, you'll suddenly wake up and hate women."
