Our war with Iran was *never* about them having a nuclear weapon. That has always been a lie. And how do we know this? North Korea has *lots* of nuclear weapons. And instead of bombing them, Trump is always singing the praises of its leader and how much he likes Trump. We are being conned.

Person one: Taught my kids how socialism works. Let them trick or treat while I stayed home. Then took all their candy. Socialism 101.

Person two : The socialism part is where the community came together and fed your kids for free. The capitalism part is where you made them do all the work and stole from them.

TMZ says this 24-year-old is Trump's new press secretary. She reposted the story on Facebook, so I guess that's confirming it? This is a photo she posed for previously. Trump's malevolence and corruption are clearly more important. But the coarsening of the presidency makes me sick.

i *do* think that retiring to give trump a chance to appoint another justice after the public have overwhelmingly rejected trump and his party in historic margins is the kind of thing that will make court reform not just necessary, but popular

one thing about the partisans on the court is that because they have never run for office, they have incredibly bad political instincts. he isn’t the first justice to time his retirement to benefit his political party, but they’re typically not this shameless about it

Note: The KS polling is a win for Dems no matter what, because (as AP reported yesterday) the GOP is being forced to burn money in a state that hasn't had a Dem senator in nearly a century. A Hamilton win remains unlikely, historically speaking, but: this is WILD. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/03/u...
Polling results from Senate races the latest NY Times/Siena poll. Dems trial by a point in Iowa, but lead in Texas, Alaska, and Ohio. And most striking of all: Dems are tied with the GOP in Kansas.

very grim but the reflexive way that fox news is defending rape this week is both nearly identical to the kavanaugh period (can't trust her because she doesn't remember/she changed her mind) and proof that victim-blaming is the north star of state media even when the case is separate from government

The US Democrats need to look at their next Presidency as an endless sprint to obliterate MAGA, every day for years. Until the cancer is gone then there should be no time wasted on MAGA tears or conciliation. Only endless justice and rebuilding the democracy. Govern like every day is the last day.

NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIV's Al encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious.
Olah's team then privately lobbied the pope's advisers "to take the possibility of model consciousness seriously." Pope Leo XIV held firm.
For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing.
