Walked through town ON MY OWN and didn't have a wobble 💪. If anyone reading this is having an awful time with panic disorder and/or autistic burnout, I hope you can take some hope from my experience. Recovery takes a very, very long time and it's not linear by any means, but it is possible.

Today @derekalanmeins.bsky.social taught undergraduates for the first time and, by all accounts, smashed it. It all started with an OU degree when we lived in Liverpool. It's never to late to do a degree if that floats your boat. What a great lad 💛

One bit of advice for new #PhDStudents... Remember the PhD isn't your whole life - even if you are led to believe that by faculty. Your mental and physical health always comes first. You are allowed to enjoy the next few years of your life, your life doesn't get put on hold by studying.

I was a secretary in a firm of chartered accountants in my early 20s. At a Christmas do the senior partner, 50s (whose wife was the only HR person), slid his hand up my inner thigh and tried to get me to come to his hotel with him. Nothing I could do if I wanted to keep my job.

About 30,000 autistic ppl in the UK have Type 2 Diabetes, aren't on insulin, & use wearable monitors (CGMs). These save lives for those who don't spot low-sugar events / can't cope with endless painful finger prick tests each day etc. The NHS has removed funding. Now, have to pay ~ £1500/yr. /
