It is very interesting that the Mail’s story on Michael Gove’s recent ex-girlfriend being charged with CSAM offences has been memoryholed two days after it was published. Public records show she appeared at Oxford Combined Court centre on September 30 and pleaded not guilty.

This is all very interesting and kind of at the limits of what I know about. There are an awful lot of commentaries by men. One that's written by a woman (not read it yet) has the phrase "absolute units" in the title, to which I very heartily off my cap.

That must have been such fun! And is exactly how interdisciplinary thinking gets off the ground. My brain and my outlook exploded because of that philosophy elective. Different rhythm of thinking.

I enjoyed this paper a lot and am going to treat myself to the commentaries today. I wrote one with @thill.bsky.social but it wasn't accepted. We made the case that Seth's argument could be extended by considering the role of development in cognition (someone else probably made the same point!)

Not saying modelling subsets of cognitive processes isn't valuable - it is and I've done that. But it's not enough to say "ooh look my neural network is doing what babies do". What does that mean more broadly when for example condition is embodied and temporally situated?
