In #MathsToday, Year 13 did a new Mathematical Gettier Question linking to Differential Equations (and then we started looking at Integrating Factors).
Mathematical Gettier Question titled “Second Derivative”. Oona incorrectly finds the second derivative of y=e^{-x^2} by squaring the first derivative. Questions ask students to find the correct second derivative, then solve a differential equation to determine all functions for which Oona’s method would give the correct answer.

UPDATE: I've just added a pen overlay tool to the Algebra Tiles. It needs a bit of tweaking (rubber tool etc) and once I'm happy I'll roll it out to the rest of the manipulatives. mathsbot.com/manipulative...
A screenshot of the Algebra Tiles tool with the new pen overlay being used. In this case to complete the square.

#MathsToday Trying this out with some of my weaker groups for those who can't abstract the remainders for bus stop. I know someone somewhere will have given this a name but for now I'm calling it Medium Division 😂
A more traditional bus stop method on top, but underneath I'm writing what's been used, like long division, but written in the same fashion as inside the bus stop.

E.g. the middle calculation is fours into 29, so the 7 on top and unserneath writing the 28 I've used, with a superscript 2 before the 8, so they can see why it's remainder 1
