#MathsToday Trying this out with some of my weaker groups for those who can't abstract the remainders for bus stop. I know someone somewhere will have given this a name but for now I'm calling it Medium Division 😂
A more traditional bus stop method on top, but underneath I'm writing what's been used, like long division, but written in the same fashion as inside the bus stop.

E.g. the middle calculation is fours into 29, so the 7 on top and unserneath writing the 28 I've used, with a superscript 2 before the 8, so they can see why it's remainder 1

A list of key formulae not on the sheet (focusing on Foundation this year, Higher may appear over summer depending on timetable)
Area of a triangle = base times perpendicular height divided by 2.

When terms are next to each other with no symbol (5y, ab, 6 bracket 2 etc), it means they have been multiplied.

Exterior angles in any polygon sum to 360 degrees.

A polygon with n sides has n minus 2 triangles, therefore has 180 bracket n minus 2 degrees.

Semi-regular post showing off my Dad because...I mean, look at it! linktr.ee/shaunwrightart to follow his socials/enquire 🙂 (Check out the alt text if you want the origin story of this one)
A pyrography (wood burning) piece of a pufferfish blowing bubbles. The outline is burned onto wood and then he has painted colour onto it.

This piece of wood had a weird shape, and the idea came to him as a result (there is a weird bit on the end that looks like a fish's tail).

Desmos visual to confirm. The green dots show that 00, 01, 37 and 48 are the only such values, seeing as x and y must be limited to 9. Boiled down to 10x+y=x^2+y^2-xy (so close to being a binomial!)
A desmos graph, the original post explains it as best as I could think, but I plotted an algebraic function to fit

So guessing yours looked like this?
x∶y∶z
2∶1
      3∶4
6∶3∶4
2x+y=15
3z=12
∴15:12=5:4

I did an FDRP method...does this check out? It's been a long day so I'm aware the middle line could be done without the fraction but meh, and also that I could be missing something obvious!
x:y=2:1
∴2x+y=5y

y:z=3:4
∴z=4/3 y ∴3z=4y

∴2x+y:3z= 5y:4y=5:4

If it were an acronym, it would be GEMS. But it's not any acronym. I slowly build up to this table, the sequence is about 40 slides over the course of a week.
A table of 4 columns

1) Groups (brackets, radicals and numerators/denominators)
2) Powers and roots
3) Multiplication and Division
4) Addition and subtraction.

At the bottom of each column is an arrow going from left to right, showing what to do when you have more than one of the same priority operation. In the 'Groups' column, it also says start inside the brackets, then go outside.

Thing I never get to actually teach but love showing teachers: if you use this visual Pythag proof by Eddie Woo, he normally the shifts the shapes around. But you can prove Pythag without moving anything, just using binomial expansion and area!
Eddie Woo's proof of Pyhtagoras, aligning four congruent triangles into a square (one 'a' side next to one 'b' side), the gap in the middle is a square of length c
