17/ Enormous effort from co-first authors Andreas Gruber (Konstanz), André Olsen (BRIC Copenhagen) and Kevin Cheng (OICR), and from @gmaci.bsky.social, @reimand.bsky.social and @jweischenfeldt.bsky.social who co-led it. Thanks to #PPCG, to the men who donated samples, and to our funders.

1/ NEW PAPER 🎉 🧵 We mapped the mutational processes shaping 959 prostate cancer genomes from the Pan Prostate Cancer Group (PPCG), integrating SBS, ID, CX and complex SV signatures. Eight footprints account for the processes in 85% of cases www.nature.com/articles/s41... @nature.com

Scientists reveal what damages the DNA in most prostate cancers
The work is based on reading the complete DNA of 959 tumours from men in seven countries — the largest set of prostate cancer genomes examined in this way. Eight faulty cellular processes togeth...

If one paper out today wasn't enough, from the PanProstate Cancer Group (panprostate.org), we've got another outstanding paper. This one looking at biallelic epigenetic inactivation in the first PPCG data set. Great work. Lucky to be involved. doi.org/10.1038/s414...

Clonal evolution and transcriptional plasticity shape metastatic dissemination routes in prostate cancer - Nature Communications | Thorsten Schlomm
Metastasis does not begin when we detect it — it begins when tumour evolution selects the cells that will spread. In our new Nature Communications study, we show that prostate cancer is not a uniform...

Back-to-back: Integrating single-nuclei RNA-seq and whole-genome sequencing, @joachimwei.bsky.social and his team show how prostate cancer metastasis is shaped by plasticity-driven convergence alongside ongoing clonal evolution, with distinct clones adopting shared transcriptional trajectories.

Clonal evolution and transcriptional plasticity shape metastatic dissemination routes in prostate cancer - Nature Communications
The impact of tumour heterogeneity on metastatic potential in prostate cancer remains poorly understood. Here, the analysis of single nuclei RNA sequencing and whole-genome sequencing from samples fro...

Heads up: ignore samtools dot org, similarly minimap2 dot com and likely others. It's owned by a known phishing site and while the binaries they offer look valid currently (but note they may be serving us different binaries to others), that could change. Ie: it's not us (Samtools team)! Be warned

Almost all grant-review meetings under Trump 2.0 remain suspended at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), preventing the world’s largest public funder of biomedical research from spending much of its US$47 billion annual budget. go.nature.com/4gM6oW4
