At some point, I just have to face the reality that this just isn't going to work, and I need to just give up.

What happens when a bat gets white-nose syndrome? 🦇 A cold-loving fungus sets off a deadly chain reaction during hibernation. Here's what happens. ↓

A hibernating brown bat clings to a cave wall with visible white fungal growth on its muzzle, ears and wing. Text reads: “What is white-nose syndrome? A cold-loving fungus. Pseudogymnoascus destructans (Pd) grows on hibernating bats during winter.” Photo: Greg Horne.

Close-up of a small bat with white fungal growth around its muzzle, held gently in blue-gloved hands. Its mouth is open and wings are partly extended. Text reads: “What is white-nose syndrome? Bats wake up too often. The fungus causes bats to wake repeatedly during hibernation.” Photo: Steve Taylor/USFW.

A bat wing held open by blue-gloved hands and photographed under ultraviolet light, revealing numerous orange-yellow areas of tissue affected by white-nose syndrome. Text reads: “What is white-nose syndrome? Winter energy runs out. Each time a bat wakes, it burns fat needed to survive winter.” Photo: Jason Headley.

Numerous dead bats lie scattered on snow outside a winter hibernation site. Text reads: “What is white-nose syndrome? Many bats don’t survive. Some bats starve or leave hibernation too early, when insects are still unavailable.” Photo: Cynthia Werier.

Yeah, I thought that, too (Costco or Loblaws), but nope. It's like none of the stores are ordering them, which makes no sense.

Considering the brand's target audience, the whole concept was gross. Push credit people can't afford (to then enjoy high interest) under the guise of saving money. Why not start programs that low income families could actually use?

Angie Nikoleychuk 🍁𝚿 @juxtacognition.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Also, it's exceptionally skeevy for Walmart to be pushing its MC that hard right now. Super gross predatory behaviour. Fun fact: It's why I quit working at Walmart. They tied MC applications to my raises and promotions, and I refused to push that shit that hard on people.

Ok people. Did I miss something? Is there a reason stores stopped selling the big bags of sugar? I thought they were just having trouble getting them, but I don't remember the last time I saw one. What a pain in the ass.

You can't say you'll keep prices low in one breath, and then how it will be a great investment opportunity in the next. The two are antithetical. Safety needs to be part of that conversation. We all know what the push for profits does. And more foreign ownership? #RealTalkRJ
