This is a shining example of the fallacy of the pro-genAI narrative. genAI results are touted as a reliable truth. The actual truth is that they are summary-machines on speed, summarizing a wide range of information: accurate, accidentally inaccurate, and, in this case, deliberately misleading

🌲 Get Lost in Portland — round 79 Where in Portland is this? Reply with a neighborhood, landmark, or district. First reply counts. Answer + scores at 5pm. 📷 photo by @ncglasgow.bsky.social

Mystery street-level photo taken somewhere in Portland, Oregon, for today's guess-the-neighborhood game. Describing it further would spoil the puzzle — the answer is posted in the reveal reply.

this surprises me not one iota. tbf, it's not like this this is a new thing, casino loyalty programs are geared in exactly the same way as this. But sports betting through sites like DraftKings is more problematic bc its ease of access is exponentially higher

There’s a composer who’s been offering courses as an alternative to academia, which as a concept is fine, but when all of your success stories are older adults with full-time jobs outside of music, you wonder how much success comes from the privilege of having that income already.

One of the most influential video games from my youth that hooked me was the arcade version of Marble Madness (which sadly has no gif, the below is a port). +Unique controls +Great gameplay with unique challenges for every level +Killer soundtrack +Fun but punishing 1v1 *chef's kiss*

i spent a lot of my life not voting bc I believed that my individual vote didn't matter It wasn't until I saw how much effort was poured into voter suppression that I realized how wrong I was Hopefully the blatant tactics of today will be as eye opening for voting complacency in the midterms

the map changed the most drastically when i said "catty-corner" and "po'boy" it's also interesting that I clearly did not pick up a lot of PNW dialect despite living there for 9y, yet I have SW dialect despite never having living there

a US map with colors relating to my dialect trends. the area around the northeast is the reddest which is 'most like me', the bluest area is in Minnesota which is 'least like me'. There are patches of white in California, New Mexico, southern Louisiana, Florida, and a strip across Ohio, Virginia, and the Carolinas
