my experiences with school libraries - not just in elementary school, but middle and high school - shaped a lot of who i am today and how i got here we're failing kids, not just during their childhood, but for their entire life, by providing less library opportunities than we had

people keep reposting my stuff from a couple days ago like "but I buy all the banned books!" "my classroom reads all the--" man you have no idea how many books are being banned. it's THOUSANDS. looking it up gives you top 100 at MOST. banning hurts authors. hands down. stop trying to make it okay

also just a note that a book doesn't have to be specifically listed by name to be effectively a banned book--if entire school and library systems are banning, say, every book for kids and teens that has trans characters in it, that's a banned book!
