I watched that War Game programme on Sky where Michael Gove is prime minister and manages to get the UK involved in a nuclear war with Russia. Seeing the Tory policy ideas coming out of their confereence, they watched it too.

I strongly believe schools should bring children together rather than try to impose one religious identity on them. If you agree - please add your name and call on the Education Secretary to introduce inclusive assemblies for all, and to keep dangerous Christian Nationalism OUT of our schools.

Labour’s lesson from 2010’s Bigotgate was that bigots are unconvertible and their opinions must be enacted to the letter for a policy to be acceptable – and that it’s everyone else who needs to adapt. This was the wrong lesson.

The UK has forgotten why the state pension exists: to prevent old-age poverty. It will be vastly less important when auto-enrolled workers retire. We shouldn't overcompensate through a sense of moral duty – we already have over 40% of pensioners dying with more money than when they retired.

David Marshall @justonefollower.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I agree with Zack Polanski on many things, but this isn't a long-term solution. The double-ratchet effect of the triple lock means that the state pension consumes a larger and larger share of GDP. Not of tax income, but the actual entire economy. It is, and always has been, an unsustainable model.

Funny. When Cameron introduced the triple lock I remember everyone on the left understanding very clearly why it was a cynical bribe to Tory voters and would not amount to a hill of beans if public services like social care were cut to the bone. Some of the same comrades are now big fans. 🧐

ExcuseMeSorryWhatPardon. Republicans tried to HURT the election chances of this <checks notes> superhot gay marine veteran, by publishing his youthful risqué photos, and he is standing as a Dem for Congress in <checks notes again> New York? 😂😂😂 I reckon this translates into a ten-point poll bump.
THE QUEER POST
The Queer Post
They leaked his old photos to try to shame a gay veteran out of a congressional race. He's still running.
Chris Gallant flew Black Hawk helicopters in the Middle East, enlisted at 17, and now volunteers as a firefighter on Long Island.
The New York Post thought leather modeling pics would end his campaign.
Gallant didn't apologize. He called it exactly what it is: "This is a coordinated political hit meant to drive me out of the race, and this represents everything that is wrong with our politics today."
"I am very proud of who I am, and I won't be shamed into silence."

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.

The Democrats defend the Kennedy Center but not trans people.

I'd have thought that the goal of a nominally centre-left political party would be to build a voter base of marginalised groups with overlapping interests and not to deliberately alienate minorities and then get arsey about it. But, what I failed to consider is, they don't want to.
