Two Denversaurus meet at sunset. Referenced from a photo I took in Montana this summer. Denversaurus belongs to the ankylosaurian family nodosauridae. Unlike ankylosauridae, nodosaurids lack a tail club and many have shoulder spikes.

Tyrannosaurus rex was named 120 years ago today on 4th October, 1905. I would do things a little differently now, but this drawing is from 2020.
Graphite and brown pencil drawing of the head of a Tyrannosaurus rex, mouth agape, in profile, facing left. The drawing is characterised by intricate linework and texture.

Please welcome Cariocecus bocagei! A new, basal hadrosauroid from the early Cret. of Portugal! This guy is known from a pretty nice skull, which makes it one of the best ornithopod fossils from Iberia so far! I loved during this little portrait for main author Filippo Bertozzo...

Felt inspired to do a piece inspired by paleoart aesthetics that were common when I was growing up. This is mostly based on a particular one by Mark Hallet, though I think I channeled some other influences as well. #SciArt #paleoart #artbyjulio
A small group of diplodocid sauropods walks through an expanse of dry ground, with scattered rocks and puddles. In the background lies a forest covered in mist, and impressive cloud formations in the sky. A few rhamphorhynchid pterosaurs fly by, and a small ornithopod moves away from a puddle as the sauropods approach.

A great float of Attenborosaurus swiftly navigate their pelagic environment in their hunt for fish. Attenborosaurus (named after Sir David Attenborough) is an extinct marine reptile that existed during the early Jurassic, it was a primitive pliosaurid, closer related to short-necked plesiosaurs.
A painting that depicts a pair of Attenborosaurus- long-necked marine reptile with flippers and tail flukes that they use to navigate the ocean and hunt fish. The pair is surrounded by ammonites, fish and other marine reptiles.

For #valentinesday and #FossilFriday, here's Tyrannosaurus engaging in face biting, a behaviour evidenced from numerous tooth gouges and puncture wounds in their skulls. Among living species, face biting is strongly correlated with the onset of sexual maturity, so this image is love-adjacent, sorta.
Two Tyrannosaurus wrestle by biting one another ON THEIR MOTHERHUBBIN' FACES. They lean towards the right of the image, the further animal trying to wrench its jaws out of the bite of the closer. One foot of each animal is off the ground, and the tail of the closer individual arcs upwards. Dust and debris scatter as they stagger around the clearing. Behind them is a nice, pleasant day with blue skies and shady trees; the sort of place you might picnic if it weren't for the threat of two 8-tonne reptiles trampling you while they settled their differences. The experience is similar to being in some city parks.

Two long-necked, long-tailed dinosaurs engaged in pushing and shoving matches, their necks entwined. They are mostly in blue shadow but their necks and heads have emerged into the golden light of the rising sun. They are in a parched, dry environment with only the only landscape features being distant mountains, over which the first rays of yellow dawn sunlight are just visible.

Pseudopus pannonicus is probably the biggest non-snake legless lizard ever. It could grow to be over 6 feet long! This is much bigger than its closest living relative, Sheltopusik (📸), the current biggest legless lizard. Here’s a redescription. anatomypubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
Looks like two snakes fighting but they’re actually legless lizards (sheltopusiks)! They both have their mouths open and one is biting the other in the chest. They have rows of yellow and brown scales, small ear holes and eyes that have eyelids.
