Red alert, boys. WSJ says it’s time to start dressing like Steve Zissou.
A BETTER BASE
Look 1 A Breton striped tee can easily replace a white tee as a less-routine base layer.

Look 2 One of the easiest ways to look stylish? Combine a navy tee, overshirt and pants with contrasting textures.
For added punch, finish with a bright fisherman beanie.

Look 3 The main takeaway here: An Oxford shirt can look great under a heavier overshirt. If it's cold, consider a thin turtleneck (Uniqlo's are great)
as the base.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion. As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

"Political violence" is a term that exists to suggest a moral distinction between "violence against politicians" and "violence by politicians" - so that one can be condemned while the other can be normalized. Obviously, no such distinction exists in reality: violence is violence.

Hi friends! A good friend asked me to share this awesome new project— a literary magazine by trans kids, for trans kids, with a little help from trans adults. If you have a trans kid in your life, definitely check out Chrysalis Magazine! www.chrysalismagazine.org
ANNOUNCING THE LAUNCH OF

Chrysalis

a new literary magazine by trans youth, for trans youth (created with a little help from trans adults)
These days, it feels like we are always hearing about trans kids and teens: Chrysalis was created so that trans, non-binary, intersex, gender-
queer, agender, two-spirit, and gender expansive youth can speak for themselves - and most impor-
tantly, speak to one another.

At Chrysalis, we believe that art, literature, and culture are a key part of trans resistance and resilience for people of all ages. And we know that the creativity, talent, and imagination of trans youth is unparalleled!

Chrysalis exists to give that radiance a platform, and to mentor the next generation of trans writers.

Submit!
We are currently seeking submissions of visual art, poetry, non-fiction and fiction related to our first issue's theme: Strength. You can also submit reporting on local events related to trans youth, and questions for Danny Lavery, our advice columnist! Visit the submissions page of our website for more information: chrysalismagazine.org/submissions
Submissions deadline: June 15, 2025.

Support our Work

Chrysalis is a grassroots initiative: we do not yet have grant funding and or other resources. Your donations help us print the magazine, pay for our website and other subscriptions, and grow our efforts for the future. To support our work, visit chrysalismagazine.org/support-our-work

Autogenocide is the engineered & coerced self-destruction: of bodies, minds, ecosystems, and futures. This graphic shows how systems create environments of daily fear, anxiety, and desperation - through toxic systems that deny care, weaponize poverty, and normalize mass death.
Autogenocide
A genocide that a population is coerced to perform on itself
X
Toxic food and pharmaceuticals
Lack of medical care
Toxic pollution
Climate change
Plenty of guns and street drugs
Daily fear, anxiety, and desperation
Me Only
No baby formula or abortions
Secterian hatred
No elder care, no disablity aid

Protests aren’t the only tool in the anti-authoritarian toolkit, but they’re incredibly important. Protests help us see each other; they make it feel safer to refuse to obey the dictator, and make it more possible for us to organize mass non-cooperation. It’s an essential step in the process.

Over 1200 protests erupt today. Each individual act is a fracture in their illusion of control. You are not waiting. You are not asking. You are the uprising. The cracks are spreading. The ground is shifting. Stand proud. Fight hard. We are many. We are furious. And we are just getting started. #3E
Action does not need to wait for orders,
follow leaders, or join rigid institutions. A single individual's action can ripple outward, inspiring others to take
complementary steps. What each person does leaves a signal
for others to follow.

Are you one of the many federal employees wondering what the hell is going on with those stupid bullet point emails? Well don’t worry. We’ve got all the guidance you could possibly need right here.
3x3 grid. Positions 1-3 across the top labeled Lawful, Neutral, Chaotic. Positions 1-3 down the left side labeled Good, Neutral, Evil. US gov department logos and the email guidance they gave are plotted in this grid. DOJ: Lawful Good, “Don’t reply. Our work is confidential and sensitive.” HHS: Lawful Neutral, “Reply is optional. Expect it to be read by malign foreign adversaries.” IRS: Lawful Evil, “You must reply, unless you’re on leave.” DOD: Neutral Good, “Don’t reply. We review our own performance.” USDA: Neutral Neutral, “Reply or don’t. Nothing will happen. There are no consequences.” DOT: Neutral Evil, “You must replay. Here’s an example reply with sensitive information in it.” HUD: Chaotic Good, “Idk but here is a video of Trump sucking Elon’s toes.” Department of commernce: Chaotic neutral, “Reply, but send it to your boss only, no OPM.” Department of interior: Chaotic evil, “You must reply. We will evaluate non-responses. Also, we’ll be doing this every week from here on.”

More true every day
Passage from Carl Sagan’s 1995 book, the demon haunted world. The passage states “ not explaining science seems to me perverse. When you’re in love, you want to tell the world. This book is a personal statement, reflecting, my lifelong love affair with science. but there’s another reason: Science is more than a body of knowledge; it is a way of thinking. I have a four boating of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time - when the United States is a service or information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those and authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good, and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness. The dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media. The 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially, a kind of celebration of ignorance.
