For many years, I thought Sir Keir looked like a man in a very particular occupation, but I couldn’t quite name it. I just walked past a business and they have got a banner with a guy making Starmer’s signature facial expression. I ran, “oh, he looks like a funeral director!”

Mark Zuckerberg is a monster.
At least one AI company is thinking about monetizing its users' mortality. Last year, Meta was granted a patent for an AI system that could keep a user account active well after death. In the words of the patent, "the language model may be used for simulating the user when the user is absent from the social networking system, for example, when the user takes a long break or if the user is deceased". It's a depressing thought, the idea of posting for ever. It's also potentially lucrative for Meta, as the company could continue to train its model through these zombie accounts.

I don't use GenAI because I want to be capable of doing my work. I want my work to be my work. I want my successes to be *my* successes. And I want to do the work that I can only do if I don't have GenAI getting in my way. Each author and intellectual should have this conversation with themselves.

That Farage and for that matter Johnson are downplaying this simply because it suits their narrative is a disgrace. It doesn't mean that "Russia won Brexit" but very obviously their machinery of disinformation was at play... as were their paid advocates on RT and Sputnik

Man who enobled a KGB agent's son... despite SIS raising concerns... says what?
This is just not true. As soon as I became
foreign secretary I asked the security
services the same question and they
replied that there was no evidence of any
successful interference in the 2016
referendum, by Russia or any other power

Either the security services have changed
their view - which would be very odd - or
Burnham is lying about what he has been
told. After all Starmer was in power for two
years and had access to exactly the same
information.

She is currently doing her bit about defending the UK from "separatists". Her problem, and it is a very severe one, is that Burnham's version of this section was one of the most compelling moments of oratory in decades of British politics. Her version is like watching something die.

Actually interesting section on Reform. "To those who say 'unite the right', we are not uniting with that". Says she doesn't want to debate if her mixed-race children are English. "We must not let these people take us backwards." This is a very welcome section, which wins a standing ovation.

The balaclava blackshirted thugs are a result of a decade of politicians, tabloids and the broadcast media telling racists they have "legitimate concerns." The normalisation of actual fascism rhetoric and action has led to this and is a far greater "legitimate concern" than any migrant on a boat.

Science fiction author John Scalzi towers at an impressive 6'8" (2 meters) tall. Like anyone else's height, it comes down to a simple lottery of genetics. His towering stature made him a distinctive, un-invisible presence growing up in the 1970s, and he famously incorporates his towering physical perspective into world-building, such as writing about massive human-created super-soldiers and 500-foot-tall kaiju.
