The other reason I don't really know what to do with these pieces is that they are paired with puff piece profiles of the fascists, platforming of the fascists, & appalling pieces in the business section about whether violating the NATO treaty & seizing territory for Lebensraum is a good investment:

Anyway, I'll start taking this coverage, pitched as "accountability" pieces, when the NYT stops doing the "Reverse Emails" (bsky.app/profile/mcop...) & starts covering the crimes & lawless authoritarianism the way it covered Hillary Clinton's email server & Joe Biden's age in 2016 & 2020.

Once you write these pieces, & find this evidence, they are the story. The only story. And yet, for a decade now, the NYT response to discovering unprecedented crimes, constitutional violations, & corruption, has been to just go back to covering Trump & the GOP as "normal politics." I don't get it.

Woman who as late as 2022 thought Musk was great has thoughts. Here are 2 big disqualifiers among journalists: 1. Thought after 2017 Trump might become a responsible & in any way “normal” president. 2. Didn’t see a decade ago that Elon Musk was a weirdo & possibly evil.

Palantir shifting from hiring only "Ivy or Ivy-equivalent" degrees to hiring only out of high school is an admission that "training" and "talent" were never factors at all. They were looking for packaging & prestige, and now they're looking for ignorance & impressionability.
Tech companies launching their own programs to train grads because they ‘can’t rely’ on Ivy Leagues
By Lydia Moynihan
Published Oct. 1, 2026, 6:00 a.m. ETAs the university system increasingly becomes a wildly expensive bastion of anti-Western sentiment, key figures in Silicon Valley are betting on alternatives to higher education. They argue that even the Ivy League is no longer producing the best candidates — nor are they even accepting some of the most qualified students.

“It used to be the case that you could rely on somebody who went to an Ivy or Ivy-equivalent to be top notch,” said Jordan Hirsch, who runs Palantir’s semester-long intensive Meritocracy Fellowship, which accepts high school graduates.“But that’s not the case anymore… we suspected that there was a lot of talent being missed.”

Funniest part to me is Jack Smith using 110% of his lawyer brain. He avoids making the connection himself; he doesn't even say "Hawkeyes," he just says "Iowa." He knows it's better to let everyone figure it out on their own. He also knows from Klobuchar's grin that she'll dunk it for him.
