The people who continue to perpetuate this myth are precisely who laid the groundwork for Trump’s big lie. They should be cut out of Democratic politics like a malignant tumor.

Was having a similar discussion about games and, while an AI could make a game that’s entertaining and compulsive I don’t believe it could make one that hits the transcendent “fun”

Yeah, and it might replace some of the generic label-created artists who are making formulaic music by algorithm, but it's not going to replace actual artistry

Extremely disagree. I don’t think it will catch on in a popular way. But it will catch on in lieu of royalty free music backing content creator YouTuber stuff, “6 hours of lofi to study to,” and background music at the doctor’s office.

also this place won't believe me when I say this but "has to be LOAC compliant" is a real requirement for any nuclear order Omaha receives, and STRATCOM is actually very serious about that assessment

Here's something you neoliberal elites will NEVER understand: Kamala scolded some protestors one time, so this is really all her fault.

If Liberal Currents wanted to be useful, they'd commission a poll asking people who was president in 2020, who currently controls the House and Senate, and why Mike Pence is not currently the vice president.

It was also telling the degree to which this sort of thing proliferated way more for Gaza than it did for Ukraine, despite the massive population disparity and the complete destruction of communications infrastructure in Gaza.

This was the immediate tell that none of this was about actually trying to help people. Ethnic cleansing is a war crime. Weaponizing aid is a war crime. But it's not about prosecuting war crimes; it's about winning factional social media feuds by any means necessary.

Thinking more about this, and I think I saw @mike10010100.com make this same point, but this is literally, verbatim, the logic of Gamergate. They viewed video games as their space, and so it was totally acceptable to abuse and harass anyone out of that space who they didn't like. Same methods.

I'm so fucking tired of people claiming "the antisemitism on the left is just coming from random anonymous nobodies online, it's not Real People in Real Life". It *is* Real People in Real Life, it's *well-known people*, and it's *everywhere* now. Either stand up to it or let the left be infected.

Something I find kind of baffling about this app is just how many people think that they can tell someone it's not "for" them. Like, who gives a shit? The whole "oh you joined after Nov. 2024" thing. Or the belief you should be allowed to abuse and harrass people into leaving the app. It's so odd.

I've said it before, I've said it again: Bluesky has a disproportionate and extremely loud percentage of users who think it's morally righteous to abuse people as long as it's for a good enough cause, and an even larger percentage of users who specialize in justifying why causes are good.

I think this is great, and I understand the philosophical theory behind decentralizing moderation. But it just hasn't worked. There's no value in keeping the people on this platform who post the stuff included in this spreadsheet. It makes it less appealing to join the app in the first place.

Good interview with great points, many of which are generally applicable to a wide swath of issues and topics often discussed on social. Everyone participates in it. Even I do, and even Katherine. It’s inherent to how people get news in 2026, and it’s going to take significant action to change it.

Nothing really prepared me for the whiplash that came from Israel/Palestine transforming from famous shorthand for “an extraordinarily complicated mess with no good outcomes” to something “so simple, you’re an evil moron if you disagree with me.” It literally happened in the discourse overnight.

Genuinely, it seems like a core principal of the online activist left is that people in their camp can be wrong, but never evil. And people in another camp must be evil, never simply wrong.

The pier was dumb, yes. I’m not disputing that. But again, the geopolitical reality is important to at least acknowledge when discussing the admin’s policy. The article here is good, and Joey is not wrong. But a lot of the tension here is that these outcomes weren’t in a vacuum.

Once again, the act of trying and failing is held as an infinitely worse sin than never doing at all, because the assumption of success in "trying". People truly believe that if you fail, not only did you not try, but you failed on purpose to avoid trying.

Ok so something that nearly always goes unmentioned by the “Biden was the worst” crowd is that the very first thing the Trump administration did - literally week one - was to work with Israel to bypass the UN system for aid distribution. This was priority number one for Trump.

Worse the very actions people said Biden could do so easily turned out to have prolonged the conflict. Threatening aid just made Netanyahu prep to forge ahead without US aid. Allowing a ceasefire resolution pass in the UN caused Sinwar to back out of ceasefire negotiations.

This is true of every contemporary political position: "Democrats are weak," "data centers consume too much water," and on and on. People hear a resonant opinion from people they socially align with, and they add it to their belief system. The large number of opinions you hear daily is what's new.

Something they teach you in Foreign Affairs School is that you can't really force other actors to do things. All you can do is build incentives for them to do the things you want them to do and incentives for them not to do the things you don't want them to do. Applicable to all walks of life.

I think it's totally fair to believe the Biden Administration was *wrong*. What I don't think is fair is to believe they were *evil*. I'm not sure why the activist left seems to want that to be true so badly, but all evidence points to them trying to help and ultimately failing.

The reason why Andrew Cuomo ran for Mayor is because the nation was so starved for leadership in 2020, it inexplicably turned to him - who was the closest approximation to it at the time. That's how bad things were!

Trump started a war that Biden intentionally did not start, and in fact told Bibi to fuck off about. And this fact has broken the brains of the weakest minded on this app. Because it definitively proves Biden was the better choice than Trump, and they fucked up and caused way, way more harm.
