This is such a daft and revealing line of questioning. I don't think we elect Greens because they don't fly; surely we elect them because they'd deliver the alternatives to flying for all of us? I think the Greens are the only English party to support the delivery of HS2 in full, for example.

East West Rail will fill an important gap in the rail network and help reduce car and lorry use in the region. It will largely replace the Varsity rail line, much of which closed in the 1960s. However, it should be electrified as soon as possible to replace diesel trains.

The route should minimise negative impacts on housing, public green spaces, nature and wildlife and carry out appropriate mitigation works with sensitivity and generous compensation.”
